Fantastic cookie - have a most wonderful trip!  I look forward to seeing your photos.  I have done a few long driving trips through WA but not as far as you are going.  Have fun!

were all going on a summer holiday.................................

no more working for a week or two.     (well, maybe a bit longer! ;D)
Fun and laughter on our summer holiday,
no more worries for me or you,
for a week or two.

We're going where the sun shines brightly
we're going where the sea is blue.
we've all seen it on the movies,
now let's see if it's true.

Everybody has a summer holiday
doin' things they always wanted to
So we're going on a summer holiday,
to make our dreams come true
for me and you.
for me and you.

Well we have pulled over for the night. It was quite early to pull over but quite enough for the first day.we have stopped at a bush camp called Koorarawalyee. Great name.  When we pulled in about half an hour ago there was no one here.. Now the eighth van has just pulled in. It looks like a busy night. It is 67 km east of Southern Cross, we were amazed to find that 3G works here.

Our van is the one you can see the door of.  You'll soon be bored with seeing it.

CP I peeked at your instagram photos.

Hi Cookie, just googled where you are, can you see a load of much somewhere there, apparently it is for visitors to the site to spread around the little seedlings and plants to help them grow :) :) We are all with you on the trip so don't forget us..

Can't see any mulch AB. Will have another look in the morning.
I meant to say we travelled about 414 km today. Not far but enough to ease into it.

DH doing something he will be doing quite a bit in the next few weeks.

This is a cute little wildflower we saw between Southern Cross and Coolgardie. We"re in Norseman now. Travelled about 280 km today. A very easy run. We stopped for a while in Coolgardie to take some photos for the forum. Some of the windflowers we saw today were beautiful. Coolgardie is where gold was first found in WA. At Fly flat. It was nt very profitable and they then found lots in Kalgoorlie.

This is the pipe line that was built by CY O'Connor in the early 1900's to take water to Kalgoorlie. It was a massive engineering feat.

These are some of the old buildings in Coolgardie, they are really beautiful. Also some buildings that are no longer in use. The town is almost a ghost town. I thought you. Ay like this photo of one of the two hotels that still run in town.
Norseman is also a gold mining town. It used to be fairly prosperous but now has mainly fly in fly out workers and is a shadow of its former self. Gold was discovered here in 1894 when a horse called Norseman was found to have a gold piece stuck in his hoof. That started the rush here. Here is Norseman the horse.
. A statue of him I should say.
We went up to the decline where the gold is mined. It goes about 3km under ground. This is the entrance to it.
This photo is of the tailings from the gold mining over the many years. It is massive.

Tomorrow we head out where there is no coverage for at least one day. I'll keep doing photos but try not to do the same as ES did.
Here endeth the history lesson.

Very interesting cookie, am enjoying all the facts. Love those shops too, you could imagine them done up as trendy little boutique style. Doesn't look like they'd get the passing traffic tho  :-))

Wonderful.  I really enjoyed that.   The buildings are really lovely what a shame they all aren't being used.  Wouldn;t it be great if they could restore them and have them as they were in their heyday like a trip into the past when it was all hussell and bussell.
