Can you use butter in home made condensed milk? I dislike margarine intensely.
Thanks.

Yes DJ, I use butter in mine.

That's great Uni. The chocolate didn't go white or did you freeze it without chocolate?

No it wasn't me Uni, I just keep mine in the fridge.  I ate the last one yesterday - made 23rd October - so they last a while here.

I think you need the malt biscuits for the lovely flavour MF, you must be able to buy them over there.  If not Arnotts, a cheaper brand is usually available.

or make your own

Simple Malt Biscuits

125 grams butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons golden syrup
2 tablespoons liquid malt extract
2.5 cups self-raising flour

Cream the butter and sugar using an electric mixer. Add the egg, then the golden syrup and the malt extract. Mix until combined.

Sift in the flour and mix with a wooden spoon until well incorporated. Dust hands lightly with flour, then roll dough into small balls and place onto a greaseproof-lined baking tray. Press down slightly with a floured fork. The biscuits will spread and riseonly slightly.

Bake at 140C for about 15-20 minutes or until golden.

That's what I thought Judy.
Will have a look for malt biscuits in Coles later and see if Arnotts have some.
Thanks for the recipe Uni will make them if I can't find ready mades in the supermarket.
Prefer homemade but time is restricted due to Xmas preparation.
