I bet they do Karen, let us know their verdict wont you?

Thumbs up from the kids - and they have just taken some over to the neighbours to "taste-test" too.  (ie bribery for a free hour or so of babysitting while I have a snooze  ;) ;))

The cheese shop is inside the market and is not  place  to eat, just a stall. They have some very good cheese  you cannot get in this partof Australia . Last time I was there I had to  to get some cheese cryovaced   to take on  the plane.

Yes i have gf... I was a bit disappointed in the selection... and they were incredibly overpriced for the type of cheeses imo... especially now that there is very little restriction in importing cheese from France and knowing how much cheese costs...think we will continue to bring cheese back and store it in our freezer lol

Good memories from visiting many farms and producers and buyng and tasting so many types of cheese... Boo hooo :(

I had an absolutely gorgeous cheese in Croatia but I didn't think I could bring cheese back into Australia - do you think I could get it sent over then? I don't know the name of the cheese and nor did my cousin but I know she could buy it and send if possible.

Poor frozzie  :'(  cant they deliver in time for the retreat or its not ready ATM?

Just give what they have to some and find something else for the others Kim, we could do a lucky dip to make it easier on you.  Or alternatively see if there is something else on their website and change your order.

It was a good buy .. Ok might do that jd will see.. No cp they told me once i ordered that thy cant fulfill the total order which was paid for and only 11 out of the 14 which is a pain as all the same is easy and now i have to find something equivalent for remaining 3.. Pain in the you know what.. Thx jd if i can source others it may be a lucky dip.. Would save anyone getting possibly put out..

Cp re cheese yes from a number of countries now but NOT all and as long as its commercially packaged and marked as made in that country or an approved country you can bring in up to 10kgs of cheese I think it is..

Remind me if i forget but ill email you the website tomorrow.. The paper is downstairs and im in bed lol.. Its related to the Australian customs website and I cant remember the name of it... I dont think its common knowledge and i only found out about it from a customs officer who told me when he asked me if I had cheese in my parcels and my response being no way i know its illegal he said yes you can now and gave me a sheet with the website on it.. Happy me!! So dh bought back on his last trip 4 of my favourite cheese which are sitting in our freezer :)

Here is the websit re bio security for cheese.

http://apps.daff.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casecontent.asp?intNodeId=8963034&intCommodityId=14236&Types=none&WhichQuery=Go+to+full+text&intSearch=1&LogSessionID=0

The laws change over time but  many years ago I bought a whole round of Stilton from Harrods . It had to be cut into wedges and cryopacked which was a bonus  really as it was so big.

The importation of raw milk cheese was banned for many years but now  we can import some cheeses under strict  rules.  William Stubbs has been very active over the years in getting the government to approve certain  raw milk cheeses including Roquefort. You will be happy to know that Frozzie.  I think we have been able to buy proper Roquefort for a few years. The last time I saw it for sale in Sydney in the Avalon Food and Wine shop it was about $65 a kilo!  They also sold some other French and Spanish cheeses .

Thanks gert... Yes happy and i will be getting visitors to bring me cheese and wine.. French only of course.. For the moment anyway i refuse to pay such ridiculous prices for some cheeses .. Talk about inflation.. Somebody is making alot of money because i know how much they charge on importation including wine and it isnt that much.. Ridiculous.. Very cheeky when you know what producers and even retailers sell them for in France .. Anyhoo.. Crazy.. Cp if you go to the bottom of the page and type cheese, the country your after and use of the cheese it shoud give you the specific details :)
