Steak and Black Pepper pie filling:Number of People makes one large pie:Ingredients:200g diced steak200g good mince1½ cups water½ teaspoon salt1 teaspoon umamiTo thicken the meat.1/4 cup cornflour1 tablespoon plain flour1/4 cup flourAdd at the end of cooking1/4 cup cream 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper. This can be ground finely or how ever you likePreparation:Place diced steak, mince, first amount of water, umami, and salt into bowl. 1000 for 10 minutes, , speed 1-2.Mix cornflour, plain flour and water (1/4 cup) together and add to bowl. Speed 3, , until mixed. This will be thick.Add cream and cracked pepper and mix well on Allow to cool and make it into a 20cm pie or small pies.Decorate with a little cracked pepper.Bake pie/s.Photos:Tips/Hints:This filling recipe is from the Beechworth Bakery book. I have made it a few times and must admit that I am now lazy and just shove it all into a frying pan on the stove and cook it for about 8-10 minutes, thicken and cool. The umami (not in the original recipe) gives it a lovely flavour.
