New TMX owner and have managed to break it.....
« on: July 14, 2009, 03:25:46 pm »
Hello!
My name is Shereen, I am from Perth WA, and I picked up my new TMX today!  So exciting.... I have wanted one for ages and the day has finally come.

Well.

I made my first thing, chocolate custard, turned out yummo, but afterwards when I tried to self clean it it wouldnt stop whizzing and frantically I pressed buttons and turned the dial to get it to stop- it did, but started flashing Open and beeping repeatedly.  I turned it off, followed trouble shoot instructions, cleaned it, dismantled it, put it back together.. you name it, I did it, but it is still beeping and I am very  :'(

So I have signed up here hoping for some advice, and to out myself as probably the very first person to manage to go so drastically wrong with the very first use!

That aside, I have three kids and a hubby, and am committed to cooking clean, natural food- as soon as my machine is fixed!

The manual says try turning the dial from closed to open position.  Have you tried turning it off completely and leaving it for a few minutes?

Is the rubber washer/ring from the lid in place?

may have to wait til morning.

Tried calling my consultant but it is a bit late- will try first thing in the morning.  It has been off for quite some time and it is still beeping when I turn it on- I did the dial thing from closed to open but that didnt work either.  I think the dial may be broken???  When the TMX is off, does the dial usually have a full range of motion?  Mine stops at seven now, wont go around any further.  I am wondering if a faulty dial is the reason it wont reset as per the manual (Ie. closed to open position).

Very frustrating, and a bit of an anticlimax to be honest.

Will check the rubber washer ring thing, but I am pretty sure it is all fine.

I hope they take it back and give you a brand newie - such a disappointment when deliveries are supposed to be a joyful time.

I also had a slight problem when mine arrived.  The scales wouldn't work and an error message kept appearing.  My consultant Monika collected it and after a small tweek it was fine.  She told me that sometimes slight problems happen because of transporting which could be right as not everyone would be as gentle as us with the machine!!!!!

Good luck!!!!

Shereen, that is a horrible disaster. Hope you've been able to get it fixed or replaced.

Yup!  All fixed- turns out it was a gear issue, very unusual!  He replaced the power board and I am off and running.  Now I can be excited for real.

YAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!  I got my thermomix!!!! ;D

Sounds like Formula 1 - needed a pit stop after the first lap.  Well, keep going and you may become a Mark Webber of the THermomix world.  ;D ;D ;D
