Chookie all will be fine. You are in good hands. Your insurance company will handle all the minutia and you just look after dear Ral. Tell him from me "too much of a good thing" and a few kilos less will be good while he fights this bacteria. Inevitable sometimes . Gastro happens. So long as you are fine and able to keep your wits about you then it is good. No hurry to rush home before Ral is ready as he is better off staying until the Gastro has run it's course. . One day at a time. It is better he is fully recovered before attempting to travel. Medicine is a universal language and the nurses caring for him can empathise with your needs. There will be someone there speaking English and your insurance company will provide an interpreter if needs be. Keep all paperwork. Ask for copies if needs be an don't fret. He will be fine.

Dear Chookie, it is so terrible to read your post. I am sure Ral will be fine, but it is still a stressful and worrying time for you. Take care of yourself, take care of Ral and don't start travelling again until he is strong enough to get home safely. If it means an extra couple of days resting and recovering, then take it before heading back. Love and hugs to you both.

Oh dearchookie... Gastro is often rife at this time of year in europe... Horrible bug and hard to avoid... Im sure he will be fine but it is frightening being in hospital in a foreign country... Insurance will more than take care of everything and you will fine xx. Hang in there..hard when its difficult to understand.. Even when i was very ill when i first went to france back in 2000 and was in hospital And had now dh as a translater I was still very worried as I didnt understand much... Cant imagine your frustration !!
My parents went to turkey as part of their overseas trip last year and some of your photos bought back memories of theirs and the lovelytrip they had...

Chookie - really sorry this had to happen - I really feel for you both! . .but on the positive side at least you have the assistance of the Aust. Consul, etc. Gert's advice spot on!! Gastro is an absolute *%&^$% at any time, but away from home, doubly so. (memories of years ago while travelling in Mexico . . even now I can still hear Montezuma chortling on about how sweet is revenge!
)
. . and to Ral . . do wish you a very, very speedy recovery - and a smooth trip home!!

Dear Bess, I really feel for you both, what a terriable end to a wonderful holiday. Tell Ral or thoughts and prayers are with him for a quick recovery and for you poor thing as being in a foreign country and having to deal with everything is a nightmare. You will both laugh at all this once you get home - believe me!!! Like Gert said keep all the paperwork and once home I know your dear son or daughter will help you with forms ect. My thoughts are with you both!! Lots of love

Chookie, I'm so sorry to hear about this I really hope it hasn't shortened your holiday by too much and you got to experience most of the things you had planned. While it's extremely stressful going through somehting like this the Australian embassy and insurance staff are normally a great help and don't be afraid to keep asking for their assistance. I hope Ral is feeling much better after the antibiotics and some of the stress will be alleviated. Stay well and all the best for the next few days.
