Stacelee,  jolly good idea.  It is great to be able to pick fresh veggies from the garden.  Saves a fortune and so much better for you.

Glad I have only just read this as I have been shopping like there are no tomorrow's.  ( while Ral in hospital).  I bought a cast iron cooking pot for 1/2 price,  a couple of bread tins, several tops to wear and a visit to that interesting shop, Essential Ingredient,  where I bought several NON Essential ingredients, such as red rice and coconut sugar.   Good reason to stop.
Thanks Goldfish,  good idea.

Arrhh - while the cat's away Chookie. Very sensible really, to shop while you're in town, it will save unnecessary trips and petrol when you are back and settled at home.
I love The Essential Ingredient - we have one in Newcastle and they have a really good cooking school.

I would love to be able to commit to this and so would my DH. However, to have any chance of success, I would need to have no access to the Internet, not go to work (i have impulse buys during my lunch hour) and no access to the shops.

Chookie, for you, all these sound like very essential ingredients - and therefore quite acceptable!!! ;D ;D

Several weeks ago I ran out of brown wrapping paper that I use to wrap and send my ebay sales off in. Brown paper isn't expensive but I was looking at the many, many rolls of Christmas wrapping paper I have due to the fact that I run out and buy it half price after Christmas, regardless of whether or not I need it (then when Christmas comes around again it doesn't match my colour scheme) so I turned it around to the plain white side and have been wrapping items for postage in that and it's worked out very well.

A very sensible thing to do Mich. I buy mine at the sales too.

I buy mine at half price too.

I now need to go through and clean out the kids toys to give away.

Well, I'm starting to think about Xmas presents, so probably won't have a no spend month, but definitely aiming to buy nothing else, and be quite strict on the presents this year.

Obbie, I need to do that too, but the kids suddenly find a new love for every little thing.  I have managed to get out the Thomas train set which DS says I can sell.  Will have to wait until they are back at school/kindy and do a covert mission!   ;)

Our kids are getting older, and want more tech things, so only lego for toys now.

I haven't read this thread (too scared to do that because I have been so so so bad) - I have bought so many things this past couple of days, mainly in relation to my unexpected and unwanted trip to NZ tomorrow - that's the way I am justifying it, anyway.  Will do penance and read the whole thread when I get back home next week!

I'm in. I did order some birthday presents for my sister and brother in law, but I resisted and didn't order anything for myself.

Marina.. I think under the circumstances, whatever you've bought would come under "essentials".... No penance needed.....:)
