Cooking Mince in the TM.
« on: November 15, 2013, 03:56:06 pm »
I found this tip and photo on CookversesChef Facebook page.I thought it a great idea as it looks like the mince doesn't become "grainy".Thank you CookvesesChef  ;D
Quote "Next was to make a Spaghetti Bolognaise sauce mix. Was reading the other day on a site (memory fails me atm as to which one) about cooking mince in the Thermomix basket to avoid it becoming too chopped up. So gave it a go... 2 thumbs up... great. Did my tomato base sauce in the bottom then added the mince to the basket and cooked.... fantastic idea. The sauce bubbled up into the meat and cooked through. Just need to cook spaghetti tonight when I get home from work... Cheers, have a great day."

Brilliant idea, will have to try it myself.  It's been a long time since I made spag bol.  I wonder if she stirred it occasionally so that it didn't stay in a clump.  Looks great, thanks for finding it CC.

I'm thinking for those who don't like to cook their meat in the TM bowl that this would work for chicken or beef too and there would be no chance of it shredding or sticking to the blades.

I do that with beef or chicken - 'steam' it in the basket - and pop it in the bowl to cook for the last 5 mins on Rv S1 - perfectly cooked and non-shredded.

I usually stir the mince with a fork half way through, it helps to break up the big clumps. I often put some julienned zucchini in the basket with the meat too.
Never give up, it's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock
