Trust you JD
You must know this forum inside and out!!!
I've just ordered some crumpet rings from Simply No Knead and will be trying these soon.

A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I have taken my starter out and am feeding it up to make some more crumpets. We love them.

Cookie, are you adding anything to the batter?

Yes, walnuts and sultanas. I may try a savoury one tomorrow. I thought I would make a few and take them to Busselton with me in the van freezer. They would be a lovely snack, toasted with coffee after a hard day Model A driving or organising.

Cookie, good thought. I keep a bag of frozen ones in the fridge. Don't put too much additions in the savoury ones. I over did it and they weren't as nice. The next lot with less were better.

If you have the small springform pans, just leave off the base and they make excellent crumpet rings.... Mine are around 12cm in diameter and 4cm high.
Made these today but put too much in the right hand ring and flipped it a before it was ready. The uncooked dough splashed a bit onto the other one..and that's the whitish smear of the one on the plate
(with blueberries this time
)
Thanks again, Chookie! I doubt these could be any faster to make!!

I really love this recipe too. They are so easy. I made mine tonight and I'm feeding the starter overnight and in the morning ready to make some savoury ones tomorrow. Thanks again Chookie.

GF that's a great idea, multi purpose. I'm going to get a few of them. Now to feed up my sour dough.

I bought some d.line silicon egg rings but couldn't find the size you use Chookie. Mine were 7cm diameter and cost $3.99 each, not a bargain price like yours. I forgot to add the sugar and silly me still poured 1/4 cup into each one and of course they overflowed, I also had the gas up too high and they burnt
Perhaps I shouldn't have decided to cook at 9pm
Second attempt with the leftover batter made 3 and just look at these, they are perfect. A full batch of this recipe will make 8 crumpets in my sized rings. I ate one whilst still warm but will heat the other 2 in the toaster for breakfast in the morning. Once you get the hang of it, there can't be anything easier. I feed my starter regularly but don't bake bread very often so this will save me throwing out a lot of excess sour dough in the future.
Thanks Chookie, another winner.
