Hi Rogizoja, Thank you so much for sorting me out!  I have now spoken to UK Thermomix who were extremely helpful and, hopefully, (postal strike permitting) lots of cookery books are winging their way to me as I type.  How lucky you are having them on your doorstep, I would be down there every day!!

Thank you very much Thermomixer (and for fixing my post!).  By coincidence we are off to Madrid this weekend so I have thrown out the guide book and will be heading straight to find Gabriella Llamas! 

My friend Tony Tan has just done a couple of classes at  Alambique in the last few days - Crossing Culinary Borders (I think is the translation).  Gabriela has a couple of classes - one with Christmas with Thermomix (she did a turkey buffet with truffles a couple of years ago in the VAroma) http://www.alambique.com/plt_Course.aspx?IdObjeto=564 and one next week - bad timing http://www.alambique.com/plt_Course.aspx?IdObjeto=545 Hippie Gourmet - Food of India - which probably isn't Thermomix.

Alambique has other English-speaking chefs to demonstrate -  MAtthew Scott http://www.alambique.com/plt_Search.aspx?Search=matthew%20scott is American and has a nearby cajun restaurant.

Good luck and if you get to Alambique, then mention that you know of Tony Tan from Australia who was demonstrating there and tat you wish to know more of Thermomix

Hi Thermomixer. Thank you so much for your message. We are on our way to Madrid for the weekend and are currently staying just outside the city. I was intending to visit the cookery school especially as I noticed it has a shop as well!  I have marked where it is on my map and will spend all Saturday looking for it if I have to!. I shall certainly mention Tony Tan and pass on your regards. Thank you again.  Will report back on Tuesday.   I am sending this on my iPhone and it looks very odd but hopefully it will format properly once I post it.

Welcome Lesley Anne - why not try their www.thermomix uk website recipes. You will find loads there. I can always try and have these people send you some books if you like, but have a look at their website first when logging onto thermomix uk and contact, try and email John Turner. He runs this company with his wife and is very obliging. If you get stuck, let me know, after all I am UK.

Well, we spent all morning looking for Alambique (i should never have trusted DH with the map) but once we found the shop it was definitely worth the worn shoe leather.  For those who come from UK I can only describe it as an upmarket, mini Lakeland Plastics with a fantastic treasure trove of kitchen gadgets and items that you wonder how you have ever managed to live without.   I came out with two carrier bags of stuff which will probably languish in the back of my cupboard for years but, I am sure, will come in handy one day!

The staff were very helpful and I passed on Thermomixer's regards and dropped Tony Tan's name in at every opportunity.  I picked up the list of their cookery courses and would love to have the opportunity to attend one or two.  The Prado had nothing on Alambique and I will definitely go back on my next visit to Madrid.
