out of action and one armed!
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:18:12 am »
I am going in to hospital tomorrow to have surgery on my hand and will be in plaster for a few weeks.  Luckily I have my new thermomix and will be able to cook one handed! Its so easy to use that even my kids can cook with it, so I will be cracking the whip!

It is terrible timing for you.  I hope it all runs smoothly and you are able to rest up over Christmas.  :)

I would like to add my wellness wishes also.  Been there, done that!   Cooking with one arm after having a shoulder dislocated.

I do have a real cookbook, "Mrs. Rassmussen's Book of One-Armed Cookery"  -- however, the title refers to the propensity of the lady in the title to cook with a bottle of beer in one hand. ;D

Do allow your kids to do for you, as you have been doing for them, and learn to supervise and direct the action.

All the best!

Ho Ho Ho - oops don't think I'm allowed to say that.  Anyway - I like you're thinking Andie - that's the Aussie bloke's (man's) way of cooking !!!  They all stand around the BBQ with a stubbie (375 ml bottle) in one hand  and a pair of tongs in the other.

Good luck pandateddy - hope it all goes well  :-* :-*

Good luck PT.  You can sit on a stool with your medicinal Champers in hand and give instructions.

Good Lucky for your up and coming surgery.  A few years back I had surgery at this time and my girls did such a wonderful job with Christmas and after.  So I know yours will make you proud.

How did the surgery go? I'm only just catching up as we went to the coast for Christmas.

I think the idea of a glass of bubbly in the good hand and lots of instructions to others is wonderful!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
