Any chance you can convert that banana & avocado ice-cream recipe Ceejay (if it is still around)?

Unfortunately I don't have it JD but I remember it came from The Complete Avocado Cookbook by Christine Heaslip published in the 1980s. Gran passed away in 1989 so I haven't seen it since.  :-[ Perhaps it's available at your local library.  I tried checking our local library catalogue but it's under maintenance until tomorrow sometime.

There seem to be a few recipes online though:
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Banana-Avocado-Ice-Cream
http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/1460/Banana-Avocado-Ice-Cream115595.shtml

Hope that helps.  ;D

Thanks ceejay, the second one sounds easy enough - I don't have an ice-cream maker to try the first one.

I've prepared several recipes from this site.  I haven't converted any for the TMX, but most are very simple.

The mousse and the avocado lime pie are delicious and everyone loves the avocado tortilla soup.  (Those are corn tortilla chips)

Thanks Andie, some nice recipes there - at least 6 that I would try.  Now to find some cheap avocados!

Oh my Buddha that is expensive. Where do you live? I was lucky the other day to get 5 beautiful large Avocados for only $2.50. Yikes I would go without for sure.

I'm hanging out for some cheap ones too now that I have all these recipes I want to try. 50 cents each Gretchen  :o :o lucky you.  Saw them for $1.98 so bought 1 to try an ice-cream recipe but now I have to wait for it to ripen.  Is there a quick way to do this, like stick it in a paper bag with a banana or something. You can rarely find one in a shop and eat it that day so you have to plan ahead when you are cooking to make sure you get them early enough. Do you know if they can be mashed with lemon juice and frozen Gretchen just in case I do see some out cheap one day.  :-* :-*

JD I have never had to freeze Avocados but I don't see why not. I would pop the seed in to the mix  as I usually do. You can try the paper bag trick as I am sure it would work but I can almost always buy them ready to eat so not sure about how long it would take as opposed to waiting.  I am now thinking of  sheeps milk cheese and avocado for dinner.

Put the avocado in a paper back with an apple.  A banana works okay but just the banana skin will work even better.

Leaving the stone in avocado dips keeps it from going brown for quite a while, so I'd try freezing the avocado with the stone.  It's a good alternative to lemon juice as it doesn't change the flavour.  And DH is allergic to citrus, so that's my only option.
