Heading to McLaren Vale for a family lunch. MIL requested I bring some bread, so I made a multigrain Vienna loaf using Cookie's recipe and some white bread sticks using Uni's 1 hour roll recipe.

I need to come to your house one weekend for a bread-making class ........ mine never look anywhere near as good as yours!  And of course, we would have to sit and chat while the bread rose  ;D ;D

Have a wonderful day in McLaren Vale - it is a beautiful day for it

That sounds like a great way to spend a day Karen.

Up close my breadsticks are definitely "rustic", especially the one hidden at the back. I'm not good at shaping my bread.

I've just tried out a batch of the Coconut, Lentil and Vegetable Pocket Pies that were featured in the most recent Australian TMX newsletter.  I dont think we have a section for recipe reviews for the newsletter, so here it is here .....

Whilst I like the idea of putting sesame seeds into the pastry, I found the pastry very difficult to work with (cracked easily and didnt stretch at all) and the filling was bland.  Not a favourite recipe at all in our house, and I wont make it again.

I did like the basic idea though - some kind of healthy filling wrapped in rectangles of pastry and made into little pies.  I will play with this idea with other pastry and filling recipes.

Karen I haven't received one of those newsletters for ages.  I thought they must have been discontinued.
