CC, that is interesting about cooking the cake over night. That looks like a very nice recipe. Do you ice it?

I'm really impressed with the recipe Chookie. The cake cooked perfectly. DH isn't keen on marzipan and icing so I decorated the cake with blanched almond before going into the oven to cook.

CC what a nice easy Christmas cake . Blanched almonds would make it delicious . It reminds me of Browns cakes in Melbourne they would decorate the top of their Christmas cakes with the most amazing glaced fruit . Completely forgotten about them , but what a great idea - yet a little bit expensive .

The overnight cake certainly does look nice. I'm very tempted. I have book marked it!!

I got up early and made Trudys lemon muffins to take to the Creswick Swap. We had a cup full of small seedless black grapes left over from the cheese and fruit platter so stirred these in before baking. Very successful. These were to have with the free coffee.
I also took bags of protein balls and a large bunch of Kale.
I collected a Summer edition of Gardening Australia, a salad plant ??, tomato seedlings, broad beans, but best of all information about a Wholesale warehouse ( Natures Cargo ). near us at Invermay. We visited there on way home and I bought a 12 1/2 k of organic flour as well as lots of other stuff that I didn’t really need.

Not a lot here today. I did some pickled, red, sliced onions. DH's Mum wanted a red onion, so he could only  buy a kilo, so brought the rest home. She probably won't even eat any of the one, the poor old thing.

DD is in the kitchen, trying her hand at macarons.

DS 12 made stir fry on the stove for lunch , it was very nice . I cooked the rice in the thermo and he added it at the end to the pan of veg and sliced beef . He has done cooking at school . DD always makes something sweet , cup cakes - they were well looked more like biscuits , doesn't stop her and DH eating them up , must be tasty ! Praise all around .

Thats really good that they enjoy the cooking K Atie. So many people won't allow the children to cook. I don't know why, my motto (taught to me by my Mum) was that if you cook you clean up the mess.

Katie, love it when kids cook.
Made lemon butter today.  Then smoked salmon pasta for dinner.

Tried my hand at making picallili - will wait a week or two before I decide whether it was successful or not.

Baked a loaf of grain/Rye/Spelt  bread last night.  Experimenting with an aluminium pot with glass lid ,lined will 3 layers of brown paper. Seems to work well.
Today going to bake more mini rolls for the freezer. I get about 35 from No Fuss recipe. I cut them out with a scone cutter.

Has turned a bit cooler. Thought the dough might need a little help.
