The biscuit tin is full, we have heaps of bread, but it is cool and of course I feel like baking. I am thinking about doing Alyce's Hot Cross bagels as rye bagels. I will have a look at the recipe and see. I really enjoy rye bagels and hers are so easy as they are steamed before baking. It will have to be tomorrow as it is too late to cook with yeast now.

Made a SD load with a bit of Rye.
15 small jars of Quince Jelly. Most will go back to CreswickSwap.

I love rye in  anything Chookie. I have just done some rye bagels to see how they go. It's rising at the moment.

I didn’t have any crackers to have with the cheese and Quince Paste for morning tea, so I cut some of this loaf very thin and toasted. Great.

My DD does that all the time for her cheese platters Chookie, she uses something like a Turkish bread or foccacia. Works well, I tried it and brushed the slices with garlic butter - yum. The jelly looks amazing, which recipe do you use, I still have a few over from my last batch of quince paste.

Nice bagels cookie.  I love home made bagels, one day I will have time to do things like this again.

Cookie, delicious looking Bagels.  I have never made Bagels.  What recipe do you recommend for a beginner?
Judy , I don’t use a recipe for any jam or jelly.  This is very clear because I strain it through a Mad Milly jam bag. I also skim any scum off the top. The flavour is lovely.
.i would suggest you chop the Quinces and cover well with water and cook until very soft.  ( could do this in TMX).  Strain the mixture through a tea towel.  Measure the liquid and add 3/4 of the amount in sugar.  Bring slowly to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar and boil until set.  To test setting, place a small dish in freezer.  Place a couple of teaspoons of jelly on the saucer, return to freezer for 10 minutes. Push finger through jelly.  If it wrinkles it is set.   I always make sure of a good set by cooking for a while extra.
Because I had a lot of Quinces I did this process on the stove but you could do the lot in the TMX for a small amount.
I made sausage rolls to freeze for Sunday.

Thanks Chookie, will give it a try in a couple of weeks when I will have more time.
Karen’s bagel recipe is a good basic one to start with Chookie, surprised you have not tried it https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3217.0.

Iv' e made Karen’s bagels and they are lovely. I will send you the recipe I used Chookie. I replaced 150g of the flour with rye. These are steamed for 15 minutes which is much easier than boiling them. Much less mess too.

Have had a cook up today . Made lemon coconut chicken soup , Quirky Joes . Turmeric  and ginger paste from Eat Well . Pumpkin and bacon risotto for dinner . Then a date and walnut loaf topped with banana . Used the cook key for the middle two , worked well . Always make the soup when feeling unwell - just a migraine but hate the way I loose a day with it . At least the boys will have some food DS seems to be hungry no matter what .
