This afternoon I have been blanching and freezing beans. They are producing faster than we can eat them. Our tomatoes are not doing much though so looks like I will be buying some to make chutney this year.

I made the Portuguese loaf again today. It’s DH’s new favourite. I put. Just over 100g of whole meal flour in today. I also cooked it in a large loaf tin. I also made some biscuits.
The recipe for the peanut butter blossoms is here.

Cookie, your loaf looks good.
I made this Oatmeal Loaf today from a vegan site I follow. It has a lovely soft texture, is a bit sweet but could do with a touch more salt.

It has a nice crumb Margaret, perhaps your fillings will compensate for the lack of salt.

Wow, Cookie and Mab, 2 lovely loaves. I’ve just seen a recipe for a lemon cake that uses SD starter. Tempted to make one. Might make it into muffins and the I can have one and give rest away.
Cooking sweet corn, fish in SD batter and salad for lunch.

A couple of new dishes for me today - a nut loaf that ended up using up just every type of nut I had in the house. The recipe called for cooked chestnuts but the
very expensive
can I bought yesterday didn't look good when I opened it so it went straight into the rubbish (I didn't even want to put it out for the hens!) so I put in... almonds, pistachios, pecans, cashews and hazelnuts instead. The recipe also called for dried apricots chopped into it and a packet of sage and onion stuffing ... very strange combination but it actually turned out quite nice.
I also made RTE' s Roasted eggplant lentil salad. Unfortunately by the time I got around to the roasting eggplant bit it was too hot so I have ended up with just the lentil salad, which is very nice. The lentils are very strongly flavoured so I am hoping the rocket will cut through that when I add it (I haven't got the rocket yet so I am curious to see if it does manage to calm the lentils down).

Marina, you cooking sounds very interesting.
I made the vegetable sauce for pasta from Cookidoo for dinner tonight and a chia pudding with Greek yogurt.

Need to make bread.
So many choices. Will make SD crumpets for friends and freezer.
We are in for a cool week so may be able to find time to do some baking.

Made the Portuguese loaf again, this time in the large loaf tin. Forgot it was in the oven and didn’t hear the timer. Bottom a bit browner but otherwise ok.

I’ve done the not hearing the timer trick myself many times Chookie, I thought it was a long 10 minutes when cooking pasta the other night and I was only sitting a few metres from the timer. I use it so much for different things that I don’t think my brain recognises it anymore, especially if I’m on my iPad. The pasta was certainly overcooked but was fine, al dente is not soft enough for me.

The timer on my oven only beeps 3 times, so I usually use Siri on my watch. I’ve missed it a few times.
I made a rye SD loaf today. Also

A friend gave us a monstrous zucchini. I also Alyce’s Flavour salt in the oven. Friends suggested it to me but I could never find liquid smoke. I found some in a shop that sells American things last week.

Happy to hear I’m not the only one not hearing the timer, thanks Chookie and cookie.
