I taught a young man, (neighbor) to make bread. He made a pipe loaf. You should have seen the delightful look on his face when it came out of the tin. I think I enjoyed it as much as him.  Sorry, no photo, he ran home with it.
I made these Apple cakes yesterday .

That is so very exciting Chookie. I can imagine how proud he was.

That's great with the bread - how old was your neighbour?

The apple cakes look yummy.

It’s so lovely of you to spend time with your neighbours’ children Chookie, they can and will learn so much from you. I can just imagine the joy that little boy felt when the loaf came out of the tin as I always felt the same about that particular loaf.  What did you both do whilst waiting for it to rise?

A pot of pea, ham & vegetable soup.  Just right for this cold weather.

The bread making neighbor is actually 32 but looks about 20. He has his own business making stickers. Works from home. Lives with parents. He often brings my rubbish bins in for me. Does art therapy.

I tried one of thermomumma’s giant loaves yesterday. It was a semi flop. It tasted nice but was about half size. I’ve tested my yeast and that seems ok. I will keep trying.  I’ll find out why my breadmaking is failing sooner or later.
I made a vegetables frittata from Cookidoo for dinner last night. I only made a half batch but it has made heaps.

I made a loaf of old fashioned gingerbread today.  GS came in and said he likes gingerbread so some went home with him.

DD is in the kitchen this afternoon. She has taken to making large New York cookies. They are very tasty.
I made a Plum and Almond skillet crumble yesterday. It's very nice. The recipe is from last month's Women's Weekly., I really don't know why I continue to buy it as its expensive and I don't find a lot to read in it.

The kids will be over tomorrow so this time I’ve made RTE veggie burgers for DD https://www.recipetineats.com/veggie-burgers/ and a mixed meat stew with a mashed potato topping for SIL, enough mash left to go with another meal or 2 (SIL’s favourite). Also a cauli & broccoli au-gratin and some mixed berry coulis to go with individual pavlovas I’m making tomorrow.

What amazing cooking.
I bought a large bag of pealed garlic. I’m mincing it with fresh ginger and spring onion , in TMX, to form a past. I freeze this in snack bags to add to stir fries and soups.

Thanks Margaret & Chookie, I look forward to my monthly cook-up for them. Can’t wait to see how the chicken burgers go down with DD, there are great reviews of this recipe on Nagi’s website and you’ve obviously tried them Margaret.

Chookie those bags of garlic are huge, what ratio of the other ingredients do you use?
