CP I know how you feel there at times. I get so frustrated. An elderly lady once told me that a child does not really appreciate their parents until they are 35. And I believe it too.

Poor CP, I agree it doesn't hurt to go on strike sometimes when we are just taken for granted by our kids. You and DH should go out for tea and just leave them to find something for themselves.  They will be horrified but obviously are causing you a little angst at the moment and need something to remind them that all good things can come to an end  ;) ;)

I have made rum and raisin ice cream from the "ultimate ice cream book". and Choc banana bread by Bill granger. I found the cake a little drier than I would have liked.  I will tweak it before I make it again. Tomorrow I am having a go at resurrecting my mother's wartime recipe for almond tart or Bakewell tart as it is better known in England. Of course as you might imagine, Almonds are not actually included at all. I am also going to make some of that French onion soup mix.

Awww! Macadamia and Honey Tart does look delicious Chookie! Thanks for the link JD - had missed that one and we just picked a whole heap of nuts off our tree.  ;D

Looking forward to that Bakewell Tart Decadent Dot!  ;)

Poor Cream Puff 63 - you have my sympathies! We had a incident at breaky time where my 13 year son wanted to know why I hadn't washed on the weekend (after having such a busy one!) I swore I'd never have a son like that - and have to admit I have been contributing to making a 'mumma's boy'!! :-)) The problem is currently being rectified in the laundry now.  ;)

happy anniversary nay nay..looks like you had fun!  :)

CP yes I would take judys advice and go out with DH, go on strike and let them fend for themselves... its so easy though to always be the one picking up and doing everything (sometimes just so much easier) but as my kids are little I then imagine the years of it and start yelling at them to pick up their own things, take their own plates to the kitchen etc etc and be as self sufficient as possible at their tiny age..going on strike has got to help selfish teenagers though right...pleeeeeease  my kids already have attitude and they are only babies...the worst though is when DH joins in the slackness and I become the maid/cook for everyone (never lasts more than a day or two before I crack though lol)!...then the cycle just repeats itself over and over!

Chookie that tart looks yummy...missed it too..;pity macadamias are hard to find over here  :(

I know good advice girls, however DH is fly in, fly out and not back until Thurs. I thought as a parent that if you led by example ie. picked up, washed up, packed up, made up and put out then the little darlings would follow and do the same. Nup! Our kids are 20+ so I have decided to go on strike and close my eyes as I walk around the house, feed the dog and then go to bed early and read a book. I'm not going to do anything (not even food shopping  :o :o) for a few days....so....

....please don't post pictures of Macadamia and Honey Tarts, or fresh warm bread straight out of the oven, or iced cupcakes cos I might have to break the strike rule  :D

lol CP you will need to close your eyes on the forum too  :D :D

WOW 20+ and still at home...i would kick them out if they dont shape up and here here for the strike...I get amazed when I go to friends houses and their kdis are like little robots..pick everything up, go brush their teeth by themselves, set the table and go and take the plates etc and put in dishwasher and the list goes on...how do they make them do that...i would spend more times yelling ad repeating to my kids to do it that I would never get anything done..;hang in there until DH gets back then CP...we are all here in support of your strike  :) :) :) :) :)
