My wonderful DD (Jessica) and her friend (Jorja) are cooking for me today. They have already made a couple of things and starting on a slice now. They are life savers as today I am so sore under the arms I can't move around very well at all. My wonderful friend is going to the chemist to hire me some short arm crutches, so hopefully that will make moving about much easier.
I am so glad my DD knows how to use the TM and confidently. She even knows how to use the convection microwave. And I know they will also clean up after them self.
I couldn't ask for anything better.
I'm just about to tackle a shower (this could be fun lol)

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Thank goodness for DD and her friend Mandi, they will love taking control of the kitchen I'm sure.  Good luck with you shower, it is probably going to be quite a tricky exercise.

Sorry to hear about your problems Dede. Pleased to hear you are trying different crutches. I couldn't help but think either the current crutches are too high for you, or you are leaning too far into them. You should be able to fit a few fingers between the top of the crutches and your underarms. They shouldn't have been touching, no wonder you are so sore!

It is great your daughter and friend are cooking. I am sure they will have lots of fun and it makes it easier for you. Hope this six weeks goes quickly!

Dede - was so sorry to hear about your "mobility crisis" . . .and no time to  prepare for it!! It's quite a vertical learning curve but I think you will be surprised at how you and everyone else will cope by the end of it all - and your DD does really sound like a "DD" :D :D  . . . and just think of the time you can spend on the forum now ;)   Good luck and certainly hope  the dr's treatment works a miracle for you!!

Lol, I will be on the forum heaps now. I managed my shower ok (a little awkward), I have put a load of washing on and made my bed, swept the kitchen (kind of) and opened some curtains. No I'm buggered. Getting DD to make me a cuppa while I spend some time catching up on the forum. I'm just glad it's the weekend so it gives me a couple of days to get used of these new legs of mine.

Dede,  you poor thing.  Hope things improve.  The children often come into their own when things go wrong.

i feel so sorry for you Mandi, its awful when you are incapacitated!  I had to use crutches years ago when i rolled my ankle (the pain couldnt have been worse if i had broken it!).  At the time my eldest son was about 4 and the youngest was about a year but not walking!! I used to use a chair with wheels ( like a study chair)to get around in the house, with baby on lap.  It might be easier on your arms if you have one of those!
Let the kids run around after you!!!

Bonsai I have had a torn tendon for 2.5 years and had physio, ultra sound therapy, orthotics, several different shoes and stretching exercises but nothing had worked. The doctor said that I am over working my tendon so it just keeps tearing and breaking down. The best thing was to give me some steroid injection and immobilize the tendon so it can have a chance to heal. I had the option of a walking boot but the doctor didn't trust me to keep it on all time (I don't trust me either) lol. I just hope this works as the next step is surgery or put up with it. But because it's breaking down the chances are I would have a complete rupture. The worse thing is that because I have been limping for so long my tendon on the other side is also torn and breaking down so may need the same treatment. I think sometimes I just do to much and need to slow down a bit (but I have got 7 people to take care of).
Sorry if I am boring everyone.

Oh the kids made a beautiful banana cake (from the forum of cause) I'm going to make nigella's banana choc chip muffins tomorrow. (brought a bag of ripe bananas for 99 cents today)

Good to heat t kids are helping out especially dd... I hope the plaster cast works for you and it finally heals

The partial arm crutches work a treat.. My dad has a leg off (vietnam) and has had them most of hi life when he doesnt wear his artificial leg and they have never given him trouble but like any crutches they need to be at the right height..
