No Amy  no Christmas Turkey. The last time I cooed a Christmas Turkey on the BBQ I spent the day in the pool drinking Sparkling Shiraz. I completely forgot about the turkey and I guess everyone else did as well as it was discovered in the BBQ safe  and well on Boxing Day. Nary a fly egg on it. Someone had at least turned it off or it ran out of gas at the right time.

Oh and Amy I lied about the Billicart. It is really Pink by Yellowglen a difference of about $60 a bottle.

Sparkling Shiraz is a full bodied red and not sweet at all.  You might like Bella  from Yellowglen. Sweet and pink sparkles. I don't know much about  sweet wines at all but  I know you can buy some of the sparkling in small 200 ml bottles to try.

To my palate Yelloglen Sparkling Pink is dry with a slight berry flavour and a nice change this time of year from my usual Yellow Yellowglen.

One of my likes also is Hardy's Sir James Sparkling Shiraz. My favourite Aussie Bubbles  is Jansz from Tassie.

I almost choked when I read you poured a glass of Billicart Salmon Rose after stuffing your turkey Gert 
Not that you need a reason to enjoy such a nice wine but I did think it was a strange time to open such a bottle LOL

I've had Bella Gretchen, love that one.  I then moved onto Moscato - I keep moving on but never over to dry reds

Gert,  I bough 2 of those turkeys,  same size and price.  I will be interested to know what it was like.  If really awful ,  will have to buy the usual organic breast from Vic Market.  OR I could fill all visitors up on fizz and they won't even notice.

Well MF my favourite drink of all time on a Sunday morning is a tall glass filled with ice, drop a Berocca into it and top it  up with Sparkling Wine. Yummy

There is no time like the present to have a drink. When I worked in Sydney and the markets were in town we would offen drop in  to the earlier opener and have a beer before work.   Them wuz  the days!

Lots of cooking today on this warm Sunday here is Tassie, kids outside having a water fight

So far I have made Amy's choc chip muffins (kids favorite), fudgy wudgy cookies and a butter cake.
On the rise now is some dough for cheese and onion rolls and some of chookies famous fruit buns

I must get my bum moving and make the Christmas pudding next week. Time is running out

Well chookie let us put it this way. It was  cheap. We can get three meals from it. It tasted like turkey. It was very moist because I cooked it with steam. The stuffing was great, the skin was crisp and virtually no fat. If your guests,have never had a lovingly home grown adult turkey they would think that is what turkey tasted like. I prefer the dark meat but the breast was ok. The probably injected it with turkey flavour. If I had paid full price I would not be happy but then I would not have paid that price.

I will use the one in the freezer to make dog food. And stock.

I would love a homegrown well cured ham but that too is too much to ask for.  I would love to glaze it and baste it on the BBQ. If I could get one at a farm gate I would be in heaven. I won't be buying one from the supermarkets.
