katesjoy - it's a wonderful addiction!!

I've made spelt bread, Tuna (thai curry one) dip, and have made the base for the Christmas Torte from Tenina's blog. I couldn't buy red and green Turkish Delight, so bought the chocolate bar one.

Over Christmas, Timmy made:

Thai Fish Patties - will post my recipe
Toblerone Dip for a fruit platter
Gravy

and that's about it as we had seafood for lunch, a roast for tea and then leftovers. I left the steamer basket home so couldn't cook my potatoes in Timmy for potato salad.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Have made Christmas salad from Buon Ricordo cookbook, Tiramisu icecream and pasta with pesto.

Happy New Year guys! Am cooking up a storm, and yes its 3 in the morning, so all is ready for tomorrows dinner, 19 for dinner! OMG I must be mad! Enjoying it too! Have just finished the desserts! One very large Banoffee Pie, a huge baked Cheesecake topped with mixture of berries, Carrot cake iced with cheese frosting, oh and a savoury swiss roll filled with smoked salmon, whipped cream and walnuts.  For the kids Rum & lemon waffles (for the teenagers with lots of rum) and honey and ginger waffles (for the younger ones!) Have also made caramelised onions and caramelised red peppers to fill little tartlets and pop under the grill with some goats cheese. Oh and Pedro Ximenez (sweet sherry) sauce and blue cheese sauce, ready for the meat tomorrow evening! Santa bought me a lovely new camera for xmas, so will take lots of photos and post in relevant sections! Best wishes for 2010!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Hi everyone!

Back a couple of days ago after 12 whole days away without my Kermie!! Although he didn get talked about often as we have family and friends fudge and Choc Salami made with him. I felt like a sales consultant!

Anyhow, since back on Wednesday have made jam for the first time in my life. I don't think I would have ever thought of doing it before. We brought back raspberries from a farm in Tassie. So followed a simple recipe on here with equal quantities of berries and jam sugar (CSR brand). I think it was 20mins, speed 2, 100 degrees. Then did Varoma for 4.5 minutes. I tested it a few times with the cold saucer. It has turned out perfectly  :)

Also have made a few cocktails for the new year... yum.

Also made a great dessert for last night (DH and I had a decadent quiet night in!). Yummy - Passionfruit Berry Dacquoise from TM recipe blog -

well done jojo! i too made jam for the first time ever yesterday, it is just so simple and tastes devine.  gotta love the TMX.  my friends thought l was very clever, hehe am sure they won't think l'm quite so clever when they actually get to see TMX in action.

Tell them it is hard to operate and that you are doing all the work! My brother saw mine for the first time and remarked on  the dials and all the buttons and said it must be hard to operate. I had never looked at the mnachine like that before.

Hi from Tassie,    Not doing any cooking, on holiday !  missing my T.M.    Judy what is a Banoffee Pie?   Saw small ones in a shop today.   DH bought me a new book on bread making by  jim Lahey.    His method           may be the answer to those who want sour dough flavor, made without the culture.  It is a 12 to 18 hour, no knead bread, cooked in a pot.

I didn't know for a long time then worked out - Banana + toffee - Banoffee

Hope it's all going well in Tassie and no devils get you.

Made Coronation chicken, chicken veronique (sort of) and schiacciata (?) with grape (like a sweet foccacia) - just using up bits and pieces still.

Yesterday I converted a carrot, orange & raisin loaf recipe - turned out delish, but i stupidly forgot I should grate the carrots in the TMX before starting to mix the cake in it! Will have to note that in the conversion. I ended up doing the carrots the old-fashioned way!

This morning I made porridge, turned out perfectly.

And right now I'm attempting to convert a favourite chickpea & pumpkin tagine recipe (love this - I often make it for friends with new babies as it freezes well, is vegan, and packed full of good stuff).
