A day of "firsts" in the kitchen for me today - first time roasting a turkey, first time glazing a ham and first time doing a potato bake.  Luckily it all worked out just fine!

Now - what to do with all the leftovers  :-)) :-))

Thank you Kimmyh and obbie - we had very last minute guests for Christmas lunch - a family of 5 from the UK living here now, but they don't have any family here in Australia.  We thought they might like company on Christmas Day, so invited them to have lunch with us.  I was very pleased that all the food turned out OK, and that there was enough food!  The kids had a great time playing together, and the adults consumed several bottles of wine  ;)  It was a great day.

2 shortbread tablets

JulieO's  fruit mince pies, using Teninas vanilla bean pastry

....and finally that gingerbread house I've been promising for years

I cut pieces of marshmallow twists for the shingles

Using the "chefs toolbox" silicone mould made the frame a breeze  ;)

Maddy I agree with everyone. Your gingerbread house is the loveliest I have ever seen. I love the fruit mince pies.  I used the same pastry for mine and it is lovely.

I have done no cooking today and don't plan to do any tomorrow either. So. Any leftovers.
