INAID, I have to confess I had to google mushy peas :) The boys had the pies the traditional OZ way - with tomato sauce :D

Thanks girls :)

Anyone has a good recipe for the meat pie filling? Seems easy enough from YouTube clips, but using TM was epic fail. The liquid in the beef didn't reduce at all, no caramelisation and the mince became even tinier.

Agree.
Emme,  bread looks great.  You are doing a good job maintaining the starter.
BZB,  beautiful pies.  DH is an expert on Aussie pies and thinks the best filling is a mixture of  course mince beef and cubes of beef in a thick gravy.  Must check out Michele's recipe.

I have found the best meat pie filling - to date  ;) is slow cooked chunks in gravy cooled then chopped for a few sec in tm.  :D
DH (reading over my shoulder) has just informed me that the ones I cooked the other day "are darn close to perfect" Wow!  :-* :-* :-*

BZB I often make them when I make steak and veggies for dinner. I use up the leftover steak cut into cubes, mix with the sauce I made, normally mushroom or pepper and cook them in the pie maker. The sauce makes enough for dinner plus 12 pies.

BZB my favourite meat pie filling is here. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=12930.0

I just throw it all into a frying pan on the stove. I don't use the thermomix for the filling. It is a mixture of chunks and mince. If you don't want the pepper flavour you could leave the pepper out. If you don't have umami use Vegie stock or something similar.
