I had some bananas that were well past their use by date and half a punnet of sad looking blueberries, so banana and blueberry cake it is.

Yummy looking food again. I love to see photos. I've made Chookie's Rum and Raisin cake. I was hoping to use the rest of the dead bananas for Banana bread but D H ate them.

Made tomato sauce from massive tin, 2 1/2 Ks of tomatoes. Great as I was able to do a little gardening while the Thermo stirred away.
Judy, a great idea .

My goodness you all must get up early. That's a fine lot of cooking, and it's barely gone 8:30!
I've been making a lot of different non dairy milks the last couple of days,
just because I now can
. The fridge is full of more 'milks' than I could use up in cups of tea, so custard seemed like a good way to use them. I cobbled together bits from dairy and non dairy recipes and made an Almond Milk Chocolate Custard, using rice flour instead of cornflour. Good flavour, but it's the first time I've used rice flour and didn't like the texture it has. Used cornflour in the Cashew Milk Custard, which turned out much nicer. Used panela in it which was delicious, but turned it a
very
odd colour. Not a nice warm brown like from brown sugar, but a strange, dull brown. Oh well, I'm having fun and getting more confident with the machine.
All recipes for Thermomix custards just chuck everything in at once, which took a big leap of faith to do! I don't have to tell anyone here that it works, but it really is kitchen magic.

Two sourdough loaves are in the oven here, but now I want to make Chookies Malt Biscuits.
I can't find the recipe here - care to share Chookie?

This is from her Chookie's blog Amanda
125g. butter
90g. raw sugar, and extra for topping.
1 Tablespoon malt extract, liquid.
1Tablespoon condensed milk.
1 cup S.R. flour
90g of sultanas if you wish. (I left these out as I wanted a very plain biscuit )
Set oven for 180c, FF
Place raw sugar in bowl of TMX and zap to make like caster sugar.
Add softened butter, and cream 4 mins. on speed 3, scrape down bowl.
Add milk and malt and mix, speed 3 , 2 mins.
Tip in flour and on REVERSE mix for 30 seconds.
Using a small icecream scoop,(2 1/2cm.) or a teaspoon, place small mounds on to lined baking trays. (makes 28)
With a glass with a flat base dip base into extra sugar and lightly press on to each biscuit.
Bake for 15 mins. Cool on tray for 5 mins. and then on wire rack.

I cooked some chicken drumsticks earlier - interesting recipe. Cooked in the oven in 1 cup of tea, some soy sauce and honey (I also added some garlic and grated ginger). Very nice.
I also had written out a recipe for Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread from somewhere that had ideas for using excess sourdough starter. For the life of me I cannot now find that site
I made it last night, left it in the fridge overnight then let it rise this morning before baking it. Not sure what it's supposed to be like as it didn't seem to rise much either overnight or this morning but it tastes OK warm with butter. It's a bit rough looking on the top

Thanks Judy.
I was thinking it might use malt powder, but also think I have a jar of malt in the pantry somewhere.
Off to hunt it down now ...

Made a small pot of vegetable soup this morning to have for lunch and now have a vienna loaf rising.
Judy, I made a recipe book for my four eldest GD's a couple of years ago for Christmas. I used a lot of my recipes and some of my mum's and some of my nans recipes as well. They loved it.
Amanda, Chookies malt biscuits are delicious. I have used both malt and honey in them and they never last long.
