I have promised chicken kiev's for dinner tonight and would love to try this recipe.  Would I just use garlic butter instead of the cheese and ham and still cook it for the same amount of time?  :)

That's what I'd do Chelsea.  Haven't made my Kiev's yet.

Same here Chelsea, was only thinking about them last night and how easy something like that would be to serve a heap of people instead of lots of different casseroles.

Farfallina this is really tasty and quite  impressive. We loved it. I plan to make it again quite soon and do it as Chicken Kiev with garlic butter in it. Thank you for the recipe.

I didn't try garlic butter Chelsea. Cookie was planning to make it with garlic butter as you said. I don't know if she has tried yet.  ???
Maybe she can give feedback  :-))

I made the kiev's tonight (following Cookie and JD's advice) and they were so yummy! My DH was thrilled.

I think I might post it as a separate recipe (but as a variation of Farfallina's wonderful recipe), as it may get a little lost in this thread.  :)

I made a different version tonight.

I just minced 1 garlic clove in with the chicken mix, then after egging, rolled the patties in Italian-style breadcrumbs (pg. 14 EDC).
I didn't put a filling in the centre.
They were delicious, and I enjoyed the peppery/parmesan crumb dipped in a little chilli sauce.

Thanks for the recipe Farfallina  :D
I believe this recipe can have many variations  ;)

They look very yummy Maddy.

I am going to try (one day :-))) "mini" versions as finger food or part of a buffet.  Perhaps some with garlic butter (kiev style) and some with feta, sundried tomatoes and basil.  They would be so easy to prepare in advance and then throw in the oven when guests arrive.  :)

Thanks Farfallina,   I made these today as we are going on holiday for a couple of weeks and I wanted to use up what we had in the fridge...... ham and cheese packets opened.  I did a couple of things differently.   I used a large icecream scoop to portion out the chicken mix.  I minced the chicken while still frozen,  following your instructions.  perfect.    I also mixed the egg for coating with 1 Tablespoon of yogurt and brushed it on.  Like other Forum members the possibilities are endless.   Thank you for such a great recipe. ;D ;D ;D
