Frozzie, just bread.  Put a little green food dye in the egg wash for the leaves.  Not as beautiful as Farfallinas,  but the point was for Claire to make it.

Thank you so much for this recipe!  I have been trying to make bread for what seems like forever (pre thermomix days included) and stumbled across this recipe accidently last weekend.

It's a hit with the kids, easy to make, keeps well and economical!

Has anyone added grains or fruit to this mix?

Mum to four,  this is a basic recipe,  intended to get you started.  Just like it has you.  As fundj has suggested,  you can add various grains or seeds or fruit.  You can roll the loaf or rolls in seeds or crushed grains.  I bring to the boil,  whole wheat, let it cool and freeze it in 150/200 lots.  When I want a wholemeal roll or loaf,  I just substitute it for some of the flour in the recipe.  If the grain is very cold,  make the water warmer,  and if it is very wet,  add a bit more flour.
With this basic recipe ,  you can experiment with the shape of rolls, or bread sticks or loaf.   just have a go and good luck.

did you follow the recipe and allow it to rise properly twice...??? and not overdo it either...the dough should double roughly in sizer each time....the first rise then form into shape wanted ie rolls, loaf or other then let rise a second time before cooking....heavy dough is either due to certain flours being used or not being able to double rise...it can take a while longer in cooler temps and also never let dough rise in an area where there is a breeze or change of temp...the temp should be fairly constant..most just leave it in the bowl for the first rise (i think it states in the recipe anyway) then the second on a baking tray, loaf tin or other ready to be cooked once risen a second time....hope this helps  :)

Oh no Molly, perhaps we had bad weather and it didn't rise properly?

Is your yeast still active?

This works every time for me.

Molly,  have another go.  If they are still heavy we will walk you through it ,  step by step.  They shouldn't be heavy.
