I think the thing about this recipe is that it is easy to remember. It also allows you to play around and still produce an acceptable loaf. cookie had just demonstrated this. I also find this the best recipe for the mini SC. however for bread sticks I like Cookies Vienna recipe.

I used this recipe again today as a base to try and create a New Norcia ( a small town north of Perth) fruit loaf. The monks there bake in wood fired ovens. Nikkit made one and it looked so nice I've tried to copy hers. I haven't cut it yet.
Here is the cut view as well.

I took out a tablespoon of water and added 2 tablespoons of molasses. Then figs, dates and dried apricots that I had chopped. Also a handful of walnuts and macadamias. Next time I will add more fruit.
We all had a slice of two for supper last night.

I have just read all 15? Pages of the slow cooker bread and want to give it a go. I will use this recipe. Is white flour, bread flour or self raising or plain? Thanks!

You are so right MEP. I sat down half and hour ago to find a specific recipe and I've been looking at heaps instead of going to the specific one I want. It's djinni's small SC bread and I must go to it now!!!!

What is SC bread Cookie? Did you mean sour dough? My hubby loves sour dough. We used to buy our bread from New Norcia bakery in Mt Hawthorn. They made the best fruit loaf and sour dough. We've yet to find bread anywhere as good as New Norcia's in Perth here in the US where we are.

Thanks for clarifying Judy. I'm going to try making bread in the slow cooker today. Which recipe would you recommend? This is my first time. I will be using the New Wave 5-1 multi cooker.
