Scales playing up
clean feet, make sure cable at the back is out, check MC (weight should be 20-30g), bench top should be clean and dry
Loud noise, high pitch noise
a
drop
of sewing machine oil in the middle, where the blades are sitting.
(not on the blades but
in
the little dish)
please don't do this "just in case" only do it if there is a noise.
Leaking at the top
new seal needed, not to take the seal out after each use, dont tap a spatula or a spoon on the rim of the bowl
Kneading function is not working
if bowl is warm (over 60 deg)
Heating not working properly-
the time will depend on the room temperature and speed used
Butterfly comes off during use
put butterfly on the short side of the blades, it locks in better
Error 51
wet bowl, dry the prongs
Error 65
too fast, not waited for the zeros to come on
Cuts on the spatula
take food out by going against blunt side of the blades
Burned bottom
halving recipe not reducing cooking time,
Cleaning bowl
bi-carb soda and soft cloth
Error 32 or 55
contact service department
TM doesnt turn itself off
still in lock position on speed dial, it has to be unlocked
Smell from the bowl
wash and dry, leave open overnight to air dry

Thanks for these Nay-Nay!
Scales - I find that I have to be careful of the bench when I am measuring, as leaning on the bench or placing an item near the TMX while measuring can change the reading. And make sure the children aren't jumping up and down right next to me too!
Loud noise - I have had that happen intermittently. I used some WD40 once, after talking to the service guy, and it has happened again and is quite loud, I have sent a video link of it to my consultant to pass on to service to check out. Waiting to hear back from them as too if my precious BFF in the kitchen has to make a holiday to WA.
It mostly happens when steaming something, when there is only water in the bowl. It will happen one time I use it, and the next time be fine. And be fine for weeks, and then it will do it again. My consultant has not heard it until I sent her the video link. I borrowed her spare bowl for a week, and tried to get my machine to make the noise, so I could then switch straight away, and try to figure out if it was the base or the bowl. I madly boiled water, and it didn't do it......all week! And then was fine for a couple of months, and then it did it again! I figured catching it in the act with the camera was the only way to show someone!
So my question is, in a normal machine, how often would you expect to need to add oil to the base? Just wondering if my machine has been making the noise too frequently, for a 9 month old machine that (in comparison to what some of you kitchen wizzes get up to) isn't particularly heavily used.

Thanks - brilliant list.
Would the sewing machine oil be useful for when it whistles on Speed 3-4. Drives me insane.

@ Amanda - I don't think everyone should run out and oil anything unless they have the noise it speaks of. I haven't had any customers even from over a year ago have this problem so it is not everyone.
So please don't do this "just in case" only do it if there is a noise
. I think that was an excellent idea to send a video - hope they can sort it for you.
@ Zebraa have you tried just moving the speed knob a touch one way or the other??

The thing I was most surprised about in this list was advise not to take the lid seal out all the time - I take it apart everytime I wash it.

Me too. I think I'll have to buy a spare seal.

My GL told me to soak mine in water in the fridge overnight occasionally & I think I have read that on the forum somewhere too.

I videoed my loud whistle/noise, and Stewart at HO reviewed it. They say it is the blades and are sending me a new set. I guess my loud noise did cross the line to an unacceptable level.
My consultant and Stewart have been very helpful.
