We did enjoy the class. Quite a few dishes from Devil of a cookbook were made and a few from the Festive cookbook. I purchased the festive book years ago and forgot all about it so a good reminder to dig it out. Not sure if there were others from the forum there, I only spoke to one other woman apart from Marina. It was great having a forum friend there - I don't have any friends with TMX's.

I'm very slow roasting a heap of off cut lamb chump chops which have been marinated in a Shane Delia spice mix. I'll pull the meat off this evening and we'll make souvlaki with it. Hopefully it turns out as I'm hoping.

I used to do that with all the flaps and bits and pieces when I bought sides of lamb many years ago Wonder, nothing as modern as souvlaki though - just shepherd's pies or extracted the meat to serve with gravy and roast vegies.  I always thought of it as a 'free' meal as most people I knew just gave it to the dog or binned it as they couldn't be bothered.

JD I actually bought this tray (1.5kgs) of what was labelled lamb offcuts for $4 at the Woolworths DD works at thinking it would be great for soup, but when i got it home noticed it was a tray full of chump chops that were irregular thicknesses. I'm not sure if they had an apprentice butcher learning to cut or there was a problem with the saw but it's a bonus and they would have been OK to throw on the BBQ but I thought I would try this instead. I'm hoping they work and it's a real bargain dinner.

Great pick up then Wonder, from time to time Foodland do the same but I haven't seen any for a while.  Then again my freezers are still so full that I'm not even looking at meat at the moment  :-))

Judy remember when lamb was 13 cents a kilo. We used to buy sides all the time. I never wasted one bit except the fat. If you were lucky you also got the kidneys and liver. Them were the days. We used to get so sick of lamb. Now I crave it!

Don't know that I can go back that far Gert but like you, lamb meals are few and far between in my house unfortunately.

Yummm, lamb!  :)

Dinner tonight we are having a marinated beef roast with roast potatoes, pumpkin and kumara, steamed beans, corn and carrot, gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Can't wait, But just got an email from DH iforming me he is going to be late home tonight.  :(

Leftovers tonight. Steaming them on the varoma whilst cooking rice. Chicken leftovers taste better steamed vs nuked in the microwave :)
