We seem to be eating hot food on very warm nights . Apricot chicken legs , pre cooked in microwave then in the oven to save heating up the house too much . Couscous coleslaw , our favourite frozen  emarndi beans . I’m over the hot days .

K Atie when I moved to Darwin for 2 years back in 1970, because of the heat I presumed we would live on salads but because salad veggies were very expensive up there (3 times the price I was paying back in Adelaide) and they only lasted a few days so I soon changed to hot meals. We had very few salads at all, totally the opposite to how I expected it to be. I’m sure things are different now as surely the transport options to the NT are much better than they were  5 decades ago.

Judy we found the same in Broome when we lived there. That was long ago too.
We are leftovers for dinner as we had my brother round for lunch.

Yes it’s something you soon learn to live with cookie although I hated the tropical weather.

We don’t mind a hot meal during hot weather. The problem being heating up the kitchen. The SC helped this week as I cooked marinated chicken legs in it. The BBQ will be called into action today.  Adam Liew recipe for sausages cooked in a sauce on the BBQ. Will make a couple of rolls with the Yogurt bread recipe.
However don’t like the hot weather.

We are having a Cookidoo SC recipe tonight. It used the high heat to caramelise the onions. It’s cooked with the blade cover in place so hopefully we won’t end up with mush. It stops rotating every now and then and I expect it to beep. It’s meatballs in tomato sauce. I must make some spaghetti to go with it.

Sounds interesting cookie, all these new features makes our TM31’s look very basic but as I do basic very well it suits me. Which is your favourite model of the 3 you have or have had?

Cookie, sounds interesting.
Judy, like Cookie, I have has the 3 models. Each has its advantages. The 31 is a good basic work horse. The 5 made it digital. The 6 is far more complex and adds more options. I will never use the 6 to full advantage. Cookie is far more adventuresome than me in getting the best from the 6. I still like to convert recipes to TMX so use what 6 has to offer. Other advantages are slightly larger bowl and available recipes. On the whole , to me, , the recipes available are very disappointing. It is handy to have my recipes on the 6 , but not essential.
My DIL. Who is an excellent cook, is still using the 31 and loves it. I’m giving her the 5 , but after using it with me last weekend she is not desperate to get her hands on it. She is very computer savvy so would probably enjoy the 6.
I will be interested to see what Cookie thinks as we are all different in our needs.
Judy, unless you want to play around and experiment with recipes, the 31 will do what you want. You may want to consider having it serviced and even new blades.
P S, if you need to entertain yourself, buy a 6 as there are so many options you will not be bored.

Thanks for that comprehensive report Chookie, I was just interested to hear what users thought. I cook so little these days and even then it is basic stuff so there’s no need to upgrade at all. Mine could do with a service but I don’t know if the SA repairer still does it or whether it has to go to Perth.  All too much trouble to be bothered. I think I could even live without it if push came to shove.

I love the 6.  It does so much, but I have to remember to use the programs.
. I still prefer to cook my eggs in the basket as I learned on the 31, and also rice. None are as good as the 31 for cooking pasta. About the 5 and 6 mush it. I now use the blade cover for pasta.
I find the 6 very smooth compared to the 5.
If I had to get rid of one it would be the 5.  I don’t use Cookidoo that often as it seems to take ages and most of the recipes aren’t the best.

Thanks cookie, it’s interesting to read what people think of the different models.

Cookie, I have never cooked pasta in the TMX. Cook rice now in Miele steam oven. Still steam eggs in basket in TMX. Mashed potatoes, cook in basket and mash with butterfly.  I think you are correct about the 5.
Judy, don’t give up on the TMX. You will eventually be able to eat more foods.

Lamb casserole from the freezer, mashed potatoes, carrots & creamed silverbeet with onions & mushrooms.   Fruit salad & custard for dessert.

Last night curried egg sandwiches and fruit salad.
Tonight, grilled lamb cutlets , roast pots and pumpkin. Beans from garden. Rhubarb and peach crumble.
