Wash in soap and water first and then wash your hands with toothpaste.Have been doing this for many years. Very good after handling seafood.
Anything stainless steel in a kitchen will work. When students complain about the smell of garlic in hospitality classes I tell them to rub their hands in and around the sink - bit use \less instructing them to use any stainless steel utensil or pot at the end of a class (not terribly hygienic!!!!!) - however at home use a steel spoon or other stainless steel utensil to rub your hands if you do not have the stainless steel soap.
