I am sorry if I have upset you Frozzie.  I was being glib about the stereo type of the arrogant French. I believe the reason most people think of the French as arrogant is because they view  from their own cultural perspective. Also the differences in the languages sometimes makes anglophones view francophones as arrogant.

I do not drink much but when I do I only drink boutique wines usually from the cellar door. I do buy wines to lay down and keep and I buy some to drink straight away.  I ask the vinyard for suggestions as to which wines are best for laying down and which I should drink straight away. Almost all of these wineries use screw caps. The reason as it was explained to me is that cork demand has outstripped production so most corks are now composites not whole cork. The composite corks are  not reliable for longer cellaring.

I prefer a cork to a screw cap it has a certain heritage to it.

Den you didnt upset me no,need to be sorry just saying the french are arrogant even tongue in cheek is just something that will get a reaction out of me and create a need for me to clarify a point.lol!!  You get sick of hearing it after a while the same as i got sick of hearing aussies arent cultured.. Got that alot usually from again people who have no idea about a culture or its people..like you said its a general assumption by so many.. People mistake the friendliness and down to earth aspect of alot of aussies as having little or no class which couldnt be further from the truth.. Same thing with the french and being arrogant.. Language barrier and totally different cultures is alot to blame but could not be furtherer from the truth.... No harm den just expressing an opinion like yourself..i am very aware of the differences and how they are perceived.. All smiles!  The one thing i dislike about talking online is not knowing the tone of someones comment a,d things being taken the wrong way Such is life.. One day they will figure out a solution to that problem..

Great decorations maddy and alf I love your fairy wand - they don't make them so robust these days. 

Maddy I was in your city for a Christmas smorgasbord at some place at the end of a jetty I think, quite a few years ago.  If I knew you way back then I would have wanted to come and have a look at your lovely display.

Oh, wasn't smorgies by any chance Judy?..... Kids loved it for the king Neptune show they did, and hubby could stuff himself silly  ...I just really dislike smorgasbords.
You should see the waterfront now...you wouldn't recognise it....No hope of parking down there on a sunny day!

Alphaccino....been thinking about your wand, it really is a clever idea.  I have a pathetic small plastic star, as the top of my tree won't hold anything substantial with out flopping over  ......I might have to go wand shopping soon, and find something nice and sparkly....much easier to slot one of those in

Yes that's it maddy - I've completely tired of smorgasbords but SIL likes nothing better than to keep going back and filling his plate. It was nice for a change but I do prefer a home cooked Christmas meal rather than eating out.  I think that's the only time we've spent Christmas with the kids in Melbourne.

My issues with smorgasbords was years ago, watching an adult sneeze over the food    and seeing children taking food, then putting it back  .....so, if your ever going to eat at one....get the food from the back of trays
