No I didn't, never before the 1st December.

Thought I would post what I bought last night, to start a Christmas tradition on my mantle piece.
I have always admired putz houses, and villages (so many are vintage looking, and full of charm).
I bought my first one, until I have the time and inclination to make my own glittered houses & shops for Christmas.







you pop a battery operated candle inside, so it glows through the windows.
They are made from cardboard, painted, and glittered.  I think they are gorgeous.

Has anyone else collected/made these houses?

It may surprise you, but I haven't 
Every year I tell the kids "This year I'll make one"........and they say "you say that every year" 

Well, it is definitely planned this year.....I bought the gingerbread house silicone mould from chef's toolbox



You just push the dough in and voila!  Apparently it makes them nice and thick, so sturdy foundations, and you can also pour chocolate in and make choc houses 
I have just stocked up on some sweets, so expect some pictures!

Um, well......that willpower fizzled this morning Judy, when I couldn't stop thinking about the other gorgeous things from that seller  .... so.......I think you will see some pictures later

Love the moulds Maddy. DD has always wanted a gingerbread house since she was small. She's now 30 and still asks. We would probably only eat the lollies from it but who cares. I'll see how I go for time.

Cookie, why don't you try to make one when DD is at work and finally surprise her - she would be absolutely delighted.

Good idea Judy. I could do the walls and roof and hide them and then ice it the next day. I'm having freckles for the roof tiles as I want to eat the leftovers and any that fall off.

She will love it Cookie  .....I don't think your ever too old for a gingerbread house either.

If you don't like gingerbread, why don't you make a shortbread version perhaps.

Uni it is really beautiful. You must set it up. Sometimes we need to give ourselves a little kick to get Christmas going.

Put them out Uni, invite some friends over for drinks and nibblies and the Christmas spirit will suddenly come alive again.

Humph!  meant to be.....but stupid 1940's plaster has stupid hair all in it.....and it crumbles just looking at it!  ......still patching it all up!
There is a god though, they rang and bed arriving Friday now    will cover in plastic and paint around it now
