My Thermomix arrived today
« on: December 15, 2010, 01:50:45 pm »
it was so exciting, after my initial second thoughts lol (weird to think I had them now)!  I have just spent the last hour going over the recipe books and writing menu plan for the week.  It is actually amazing how little I need on my shopping list, just mostly fresh fruit/vege's and the rest of what is needed is basically pantry staples.  I can see this really paying off quite quickly.

Yay, welcome to the world of TMX and the forum.  I've spent the morning in the kitchen too making stock, soup and bread.

Hi and welcome. You are going to love it. I agree I have hardly anything on my shopping list anymore - a few basics at the supermarket, fruit and veg and a little from the butchers.

Wonderful news krit. I found I had to add quite a few things to my pantry but now I can say I never (I think) buy pre packaged stuff.

Do you ever look in other people's trolleys whilst waiting to be served - big difference between them and a TMX owner.  :D :D

YES Judydawn, that is something I am noticing all the time lately. I even think 'ahh that one doesn't have a thermomix or she wouldn't be buying that...' (I need a life lol).

I have noticed in my latest pantry sort out that it is much 'looser' looking if that makes sense.

All the time JD  ;) so interesting isn't it. Especially being a mum of small children and being a cloth nappy user. I notice prepackaged foods and disposables  :D

I'm glad that I'm not the only person who looks in trolleys. I'm amazed at the pre fab food people buy. Even before TMX I didn't buy too much. Also the number of people that buy biscuits and cakes-just think of the trans fats in them. I get shocked when you see trolleys laden with 'fast food' and then the people go and buy a couple of cartons of cigarettes and they are wearing no shoes.

there are a lot of aisles I don't walk down now in the supermarket, as I tend to shop only around the perimeter of the supermarket where all the fresh food is.

my DS18 walks around the shops with no shoes and we try very hard to restrain ourselves. (but I know what you mean cookie)

I too am a shocking trolley peeker.  :o :o And mostly I just feel very sad with what is in them.  I could go on for hours as I am quite passionate about wholefood cooking and I worry for the people who mostly not through their own fault (have you ever noticed how everything has some health claim too it - yes even coke zero!!) are eating their way to ill health and shortened lives.  It's funny how we all know about cigarette's being terrible for our health and yet the promotors of junk/processed foods have no such restrictions on what they sell and the false claims they make.  I wonder in the future when the true disaster that's waiting to happen with type 2 diabetes, cancers etc whether junk/processed food will have to have the same shocking photo's on them as cigarettes.

Enough!!
