CP and Nikkit, do you bake bread in them as well. I hadnt thought of the total fire ban issues or the singed arm hair, would love one when/ if we move, still need to convince DH though.

I found this at a yard sale a few days ago - on my way home from a birthday breakfast.  One of my neighbors had this sitting out and I thought it was brown glass - it had been on top of one of her kitchen cabinets for god knows how long and was covered in greasy crud.
I finally got around to putting it through the dishwasher today and found a beautiful amethyst jug - holds a quart with plenty of headroom.
Obviously hand blown with a clean pontil or punty mark on the bottom but no maker mark.
I love purples anyway - and it just cost a dollar!

Great shopping Andie, love the colour and the shape with the handle seeming the reverse of a conventional one.

Bedlam, sorry for late reply, yes I have baked bread in our pizza oven. Have done a bit of slow cooking and a few roasts as well. I should do more! It is worth having one for pizzas alone I reckon, the flavour it gives off is wonderful.

I was given a Dymocks voucher a while ago by some lovely people so I had a spend up in the city last week.
