A nice buy Cookie.  My machine is a Maytag and it is so old I can't remember when we got it.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Today's purchase was most necessary. The other died last Monday and today was the first chance we had to go out and get a new one. We had been making do with a very old one.

Very similar to mine cookie :)
I love love love mine :D

The Book Bug bit again yesterday when in Readings.

This is from a famous Irish cook who has a similar climate to us. She cooks mainly from her garden. Also has a cooking school.

Readings has that effect on people Chookie.

Marina the front loaders take a lot longer to wash your clothes. This one can be stopped, the door unlocked and clothes added or removed which is a big improvement on our last one. I wanted one that could wash in cold water and had a separate spin cycle. I like to spin my jumpers after I've washed them. For a full cycle of sheets and towels this one seems to take 2  1/2 hours. A bit longer than our last one but I will get used to it. It is so quiet you don't even remember it's on. Lovely so far.

Astarra I hope you are feeling better.

Cookie, that is very interesting about being able to add things after you have started.
I also love the spin cycle for spinning hand washed jumpers. Mine is an Asko.
I wash mostly on the hand wash programme and add an extra spin on the end.

Thanks, Cookie and Chookie for your comments.  I have always been a top loader person but I have been thinking recently and cannot remember the last time I had to add something to an active wash cycle so perhaps the front loader would be fine, especially, as you say Cookie, you can add things once the cycle has started.  I also know that they take longer to run through the cycle but I am attracted by the fact that they use less water than top loaders.

Chookie, do you think your Asko is as quiet as Cookie says her Miele is? I know that is a really subjective question as you have obviously not heard Cookie' s machine, I guess I am just looking for impressions of the attributes of different makes.

Mine uses 67 litres for a full 8Kg wash Marina. It has a 4 ½ star energy rating and a 4 ½ star water rating. Trying to do my bit for the environment.

Marina, my Asco is quite noisey. This may be due to its age as it must be well over 20 years old. What I don’t like about it is that it gives no indication of how much time is left to run in a cycle.

Had a giggle yesterday. Dropped off a Rhubarb tart to SIL. He was in a staff meeting so left it with an assistant. When I saw him later in the day he said I should have called him out as a Rhubarb tart out votes a staff meeting every time.

Bought a spiraliser on Sunday on the internet (The Good Guys) and it was here 2 days later!  Excellent service.

I am now about to embark on a spiraliser spree!

Marina, have fun. Zuchinni is popular but I had beetroot as part of a salad and it was very nice.
