An early trip to Costco for goodies to make up 3 Christmas gift baskets, stopped on the way home to pick up a bottle of French Rose for one of them and I already had some small Cadbury items to add as well.  I was in early and out in 30 minutes, I do love buying all the things I cannot eat to give to others.

I’m thinking of making some rolls of fridge biscuits for gifts. They are great to have in the freezer. I have just separated and frozen the Cosco lamb cutlets. 32 cutlets.

A fantastic haul Judy.
Chookie I love that idea. My SIL is having a shoulder replacement on 15th. They live about 45 minutes drive away but it is all through other suburbs. I could make a few of those each time I go out and my brother could bake them fresh biscuits. He can cook but it is basically grill and plain veggies. I said I would take them a casserole etc every couple of weeks. Their son lives quite close to them and DIL will be on holidays so I am sure they will help out. Is there a special recipe you use ?

Home made gifts are great, I used to love making them for the nursing home November trading table. Unfortunately they haven’t been able to have one since Covid first struck, very strict rules in there now.  Great idea Chookie, even better than making up those jars with the layers of ingredients needed to bake cookies - these will be quicker and easier to slice and bake.

Cookie & Chookie, I have made these biscuits several times and everyone likes them.      Walnut Refrigerator biscuits    Also the red & green shortbread from Thermomix  will work when rolled into logs and kept in the freezer.  Slice off what you need and cook as normal.

Cookie, the shortbread biscuits are very popular. You can add things like Almond slivers, small Choc chips to the mix. I use the AWW recipe that has cornflour in it. You can roll it into thinner rolls than specified.  These thaw more quickly and a good size to have with coffee or tea. I always keep a couple of rolls in the freezer.
Yesterday we visited the SPC bulk store.  They are like a mini Cosco, but no meat or veggies.  Every thing is much cheaper than the Supermarket. You can buy bulk or single items.

Thanks Mab and Chookie.A SPC bulk store sounds like my type of place. DD eats a lot of tiny fruits in her lunch and always has fruit on her cereal at breakfast. It has got so expensive. I needed a big tin of fruit this morning and it was $4.30.

I’m finding tinned fruit is expensive too cookie, I find it easier to eat canned peaches than fresh (you can’t always rely on them ripening up nicely either), the pear in the soft packs is always too hard so I have to put them into a smoothie.  I just picked up 2 kg bananas for 79 cents a kg, when fully ripened I cut them up and freeze them for my breakfast smoothie but I can eat them as is.

I usually give restaurants vouchers to a couple of friends but not sure that it is a good idea with COVID. Giving one Bunnings and the other a book voucher.

Everyone loves a Bunnings voucher Chookie, I used to only give them to the men but these days the ladies love receiving them too.

I have bought Bunnings vouchers for my brother, his wife and my newly wedded nephew and his wife. (they have a new home)

I had a chuckle this morning. We had friends round and exchanged gifts. I had bought them Bunnings vouchers and L'Occitane hand lotion. She grabbed the Bunnings vouchers and gave him the hand lotion.
