Went shopping at Source in Ballarat. I do a big shop there bout every 6 months. I like to checkout anything new. This time I was fascinated by a savoury nut mix. It was absolutely delicious. You use if for nibbles or to sprinkle on salads. It has soy sauce and spices . Mainly Almonds and walnuts and I think cooked dried lentils. I’ll try making some. It is $60 a kilo so worth a bit of experimenting. The other new item was date and coconut squares. Easily made in TMX. A Very thin slice was enough. The sliced almonds are cheaper than in the supermarket packets. I use a lot in the Almond Crinkle Biscuits.

Good to check out the new products.  I will try to take a stroll down to our local one later next week.

I like the Source stores but I don’t go near our closest one very often. I should make the effort.

Be very careful if you go to Source. Restraint is difficult. I go a bit wild and get small bags of lots of different things. Their thermal cups are exceptionally good.  When we picnic by the dam, Ral makes coffee in them to take with us. It keeps hot for ages.
Did a shop at Natures Cargo.   It is a mainly wholesale store but during the pandemic they allow retail customers to order stuff. Like all shopping, you need to know the prices.
I get all my Laucke flour from them. They carry a lot of locally produced goods so buying from them supports local jobs.

Went a bit wild at the Good Guys.  Bought a Dyson stick vacuum, Dyson Air filter for bedroom and Bissell carpet cleaner. That should do for a while.

I love my Dyson and I've heard good things about the Bissel too.

K Atie, there is a new Dyson air filter out which tells you what is in the air , very sophisticated and expensive. We bought the next lower level. It only filters. The top Dyson Hand stick vacuum also tells you what you are capturing.
We haven’t used he Bissell carpet cleaner yet but family lining up to borrow it.

Yesterday we finally got to use the Bissell carpet cleaner. absolutely amazing.  Rather heavy and makes a lot of noise. I spot sprayed bad spots with home made Spray and Wipe. It will pay for its self in 3 clears.  Family and friends also want to use it.

Sounds like a good buy, Chookie.  Paying for itself in three cleans is a fantastic ROI (return on investment, as they say in the retail industry)

DH wants to buy a sodastream.  Has anyone got one?  Any thoughts / comments on them? I suspect the are all much the same, but always interesting to get others' feed-back

Marina, we have had a soda stream for years and years. Love it.  There has been a bit of a problem within the last couple of years in that they changed the shape of the bottles.  The new bottles don’t fit the old machine.  You are supposed to change the bottles every couple of years. We are going to buy a complete new outfit. They are not expensive. Several places have them on special.  We don’t use any of the flavours that they offer, full of sugar.
The gas bottle lasts well. Easy to replace, about $20. Big W and beer making shop have them.
Might take a couple of goes to learn how much gas to put into the water. Just keep pressing the button until it burps.
Certainly recommend it. Would prefer glass bottles not plastic.
