Yeah IGA Atherton used to be good for Italian things,  as they had the Dimbulah store too.
The range has certainly shrunk, but that's where I still shop.

I'm loving woolworths online shopping option at the moment, especially at the moment on crutches.
I don't know what I would do if it wasn't for home deliveries available now.

What a brilliant service.

Although my order come yesterday and I had a few items missing which are supposed to be delivered today by 5.30pm (still no sign of them yet)

Will give them a bit longer before I ring up to find out what's happening with my items?

Dede glad to here your dishwasher is back 😃😃

Gretch just out of curiosity what did they charge you or the baguette?

Bought it from a newly opened "French" bakery owned by Vietnamese lady I think and it was $3.90. I also bought a country style rye loaf which was $6.50. Yikes! They were both excellent quality and worth the price . I am pretty sure the  baguette was made in the traditional way by the look and shape. They were all different in the bucket  they were sold from.

Yup no such thing as a charcuterie in Cairns but you may find  one in Sydney or Melbourne and you are right they would not be selling all that good stuff. Not even a decent  delli in Cairns.

Gert

Wow thats expensive bread.. Here a baguette on average is 80 to 90 cents (euro) but is a common staple here so get that its going to cost alot more in oz .. Nice that you can get some nice bread though..

Looks traditionsl gert.. Only taste would tell but bit far away lol

Actually I thought it was good value!  I pay $7 for a sourdough loaf and $5 for a baguette at Sonoma bakery.  I love sourdough bread but it is something I haven't tried making myself yet.

I wish I could get bread that cheap Frozzie!

I think because it is such a french staple and is bought fresh most meals everyday.. Most bakerys have lines well out the door each meal time so i guess its a just price however so many other things that arent like meat.. Very expensive and not the same quality.. But think that comes down to the french loving their meat rare so never cook it and its not bled like aussie meat which makes it tougher when cooked..thats just one thing but meat and cheese are much cheaper than oz..

Oh and snappy think there would be an uproar if they charged that much for a baguette however as its a foreign item even though its made locally they get away with it.. Anything foreign seems to be always overpriced..

Bought a vintage "Penguin"  Hot/Cold server made by West Bend Aluminum co in West Bend, Wisconsin in the 1960s.

Virtually pristine, apparently used little, if any.  Bought locally for $5.00 from a person who usually sells on Etsy.
The bakelite knob and handles are perfect, - rare in this item, which usually has a lot of dings and scrapes.

I just love the roly-poly cuteness of it.
