Happy thanksgiving (in advance) to all our American friends.  It's a holiday we don't celebrate at all here, although we obviously hear of it.

I laughed at your comment about dressing up to go shopping, Andie - although I'm a bit younger than you, I can remember as a child that I wasn't allowed to wear trousers (or denim jeans) until I got into my teen years (I got there right at the end of the hippy era), fortunately the hats and gloves had dropped out of fashion before I was born.

Andi, same here about the retro.  I think we are the same age.

I was born in 1939 so turned 21 in 1960.   Bebop was popular when my teens began, rock and roll when I was in high school - I went to see Elvis in Chicago in March 1957 - the tickets were a birthday present and I was one of 12,000 screaming fans - lost my voice.

It's actually quite a nice book, I so needed inspiration for filling the freezer up, don't want to be cooking every night insummer.  So far so good.  although I do have to say, went to order it from Australia (where the author is from) and it was twice the price plus postage then it was by buying it from the US.

If anyone wants a good book website try www.booko.com.au it shows you the cheapest place to buy a book from and it also tellls you postage too.

I saw that  in the paper. I love it. It'd save looking in the top to see if the toast was ready.

I've been looking at that toaster since this showed up in my email a year and a half ago.

I've been waiting for the price to come down as it was exclusively available at Williams Sonoma.

They have recently reduced the price to $249.95 but I'm going to wait a while longer - once it is no longer a W-S exclusive item, the prices tend to drop significantly.

I want it to add to my collection - I don't collect many new toasters but this one is so different as to make it interesting.

I hardly use my current toaster so definatley couldnt justify that price tag for one but like how its different..however just having clear sides doesnt justify the hike in price compared to a standard toaster in my eyes  :-))
