Hi astarra
I use any bread recipe but max 250g of flour so base it on that.. You can have fun with seeded breads or wholegrain or white bread etc.. Maybe start with chookies no fuss recipe or whatever bread recipe you use already but base the ingredients on 250g of flour.. Make the recipe as usual.. Put in mould and allow to rise ntil it fills the tin in whatever form you choose.. Put lids on and bake in oven at 200 degrees C for approx 20 mins or until a lid pops off lol and let it cool slightly and the bread should slide out..the tins i have are non stick as most should be as if not nightmare to get them out!  Cool completely then slice and serve your fav toppings..

Here typically its either a pain mie or sandwich type bread or rye bread but you can really use any fav bread recipe you want..

Thanx so much Frozzie! :-* Can't wait to try them out, tho might have to be tomorrow now.  :(  :)

If thy were to burn they woud be the most expensive bbq wood ever  ;D ;D

http://www.aussie-grilling-planks.com/grilling-planks.html

"The BBQ grilling planks below have been imported directly from Maine in the USA to bring to your table the unique flavours of Maine woods. All wood products advertised have been heat treated to remove any possibility of insect infestation and as such have been imported under permit with the approval of AQIS, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services. Unlike generally available timber used for building purposes, these imported woods have had no other treatment and are free of all pesticides and other chemicals."

They are meant to give you the wood  firedtaste & smokey taste.

LOL, you can soak  them in anything, they need to be soaked for an hour or more. If they arrive before the retreat I can bring a couple with me for us to try. Really hope they work well.

I've read up on those planks of wood Hally but still can't figure them out.  Obviously you can only use them once?  It will be interesting to see how you go with them - does DH do the BBQing?  Photos please whilst you are using them.

If you Re careful JD you can use them over and over. The secret is not to put them over direct heat and make sure you soak them well. They give a smoky flavour so would be great for ribs  and ham as well as steak and fish.

From what I can see you can re-use them if you are carfeul. Soak them before use for at least 2 hours, clean them in water, no soap. I would expct to get at least 2 uses out of them maybe more. If using them on bbq you heat one side & cook on the other. Can also be used in gas ovens.

Anyway looking forward to trying them.

Yes DH bbqs but not with these :)
