Good timing with this thread - my youngest is 2 today and we are having a party on sunday so I have been planning party food all week.  Savouries I am planning to do judydawns cheese and herb biscuits, dede's cheese devils, riv mum's bacon and cheese cob loaf dip, denzelmums cottage rolls and non-TMX some vietnamese cold rolls with peanut dipping sauce.  And probably some potato chips from the supermarket  :D  For sweet things I am making a jelly slice (non-TMX), raspberry muffins (non-TMX because I haven't converted it yet), johnro's cookies and cream fudge, dedes choc chip cookies and a fruit platter.  The birthday cake is going to be berringamababes quicker than a packet cake.  I am also going to make some "cars" using Milky Way bars as the body of the car, stick a Tiny Teddy biscuit on the top (after cutting its legs off so it looks like he is sitting in the car), half a life-saver as a steering wheel and 4 smarties as wheels.  Sorry - no photo yet.  You can also make really cute little "cappuccino" biscuits with an iced biscuit as the base with a marshmallow stuck on top as the cup with a freckle lolly on top of the mallow as the froth, and half a lifesaver stuck on the side as a handle.

Almost forgot - for drinks, the homemade lemonade from EDC and also QuirkyJo's raspberry lemonade from her blog:

Other great things I have made for previous parties are natmum's honey joys, rara's triple choc muffin tops, pizza scrolls made from the EDC pizza dough recipe, Cyndi O'Meara's vegetarian sausage rolls, gingerbread stars and any of the dips.

Hi obbie
I find kids don't eat alot when they're at parties.
So now I try and keep it really simple and not too much variety.
I found kids like pizza, homemade pies and sausage rolls or have a sausage sizzle.
Fruit and/or veggie platter is a must.  You can put fruit on skewers with maybe a marshmallow in the middle.
As for sweets either bowls of lollies, jelly cups or fairy bread.
For a birthday cake suggestion I always make an ice-cream cake that my kids can decorate themselves   When it's time to serve up the birthday cake I use ice-cream cones to serve the cake.  Usually I pop a marshmallow in the bottom of the cone so it doesn't go soggy.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for starting this Thread obbie, I know there has been similar ones started before but sometimes people come up with some new ideas that others haven't thought about before. My DS will be turning 5 in September and he wants a home party with TM made food lol. All the birthday parties we have been to lately have been at fast food places like McDonald's, Hungry Jacks etc. I much prefer party's at home with mainly home made foods. I think its much more personal with a few party games and a cake you cant go wrong.
I will be making some Pizzas, Cheese devils, sausage rolls, cupcakes, scrolls (Sweet and savory) dips, Biscuits. And I think the fruit plater is a great idea. A great idea I see lately was fruit cut into shapes (Stars, hearts etc) and put on skewers. Probably a bit fiddly but they looked great, and the left over bits from cutting the shapes could be used for a fruit salad so no wastage.

wow  :o. Your crazy Robyn. 50 - 60 screaming kids running around all out of control, trashing the garden and house all hyped up on sugar. (I imagine the worst lol)
My suggestion is NO Sweet food, maybe consider serving water and veggies?

I think most people have it covered. What about the brazilian cheese puffs from the traveling with thermomix book, a zuchinni slice served cold, sausages in a bun or bread would fill tummies and you could cook them before then just reheat at the party.

First off..great thread and even though others have been on here in the past i think this one is great and has alot of ideas !!  i have two birthdays coming up.....one DD just us and maybe one or two little friends at home and for DS an at home party with 15 kids (which i thought was alot until i read obbies post)...omg...you are insane woman lol...that is a hell of a lot of kids running around....i agree NO sugar!!! oh have fun though WOW!!!!  I found like others its best to keep it simple or few hot foods as trying to cook things last minute plus entertain and watch all the kids is a handful even with helpers so go with whatever you can prepare in advance and either quickly heat up or is served cold!!

:D We had some biggish birthday parties for our kids but the most kids we had was 20 + parents.  I agree with Dede:  you are a brave woman    :)
With a bit of organisation everything should go smoothly.  I would prepare quite a few different dips to serve with savoury biscuits (like grissinis) and veggie sticks.  A few homemade pizzas and quiches are always populars with kids AND adults...  Fruit kebabs are a good option too.  To sum up nothing too sweet, a bit of variety and things you can reheat easily if need is.
The kids will probably be busy running around and won't pay tooo much attention to the food (birthday cake being the exception).  When our kids were younger we organised a few different games to get the party started, then the kids were happy to do their own thing (treasure hunts and pinatas are always popular).
I'm sure it will be lots of fun!  :)
