Hi from Karratha
« on: July 24, 2011, 05:48:25 am »
Hi all, I am from Karratha WA, and will be getting my thermomix tonight!! I'm so excited! But I think the kids are just as excited as me, they want icecream for dessert! :)
As I don't have the recipe book yet, but need to go shopping soon, can anyone tell me what I need for the icecream?
Thanks all, I look forward to getting recipes and advice from you

hi Red Kell, welcome to the forum.  Glad to hear the whole family is excited but they may have to wait until tomorrow for the ice-cream to set  :D
The traditional recipe in the EDC which comes with your machine needs 2 egg yolks, 250mls cream, 250mls milk, 150g sugar, 1 tbspn vanilla essence.
Here's one called Easy 40 second egg free vanilla ice-cream on the forum - check it out for ingredients.

Hi and Welcome Kell, I agree with Judy, I think they may need to be a little patient and wait for Ice-Cream tomorrow lol. If the like custard there is a great recipe in the EDC they may like. Have fun and ask any questions you may have as there is always someone who can help.

Hi and welcome red kell,
I have made pretend ice-cream with frozen berries and cream just pour some berries in and add cream( not too much) mix it on about 6- give it a stir with the spatula. Taste like ice-cream ,sorry not a specific recipe but I just throw it in. My kids and niece and nephew loved it. Oops I zap a little sugar first,as I say not a recipe but always seems to taste yummy

Welcome redkell. If you weren't able to do an icecream immediately I hope you were able to do a sorbet.

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome :)
Thermie is going well, I think I'm in love!!!!!
Someone tipped me off to the quick icecream recipe using frozen milk, so we tried that, YUM. In the last 2 days we have managed to make choc custard, berry icecream, choc cake, nuttella, peanut butter, vanilla icecream, bolognaise, fruit juice, milk shakes AND lasagna!!!! Doing well I think :) And it blows my mind how quick and easy it all is. At this rate I might even end up liking cooking LOL.
Thanks for all the recipes and tips, I think I'll spend a fair bit of time on here getting inspiration
