So true Maddy. I saw a photo of fish cooked in it with just a few herbs. It looked lovely. I have even cleared the space for it in the cupboard. Although I am tempted to put my other thermal cooker in there (anyone want to buy it?) and keep the air fryer on the bench.

What is your other thermal cooker, cookie?
:D

Maddy I find it hard to believe that the frozen bread will only take 4 minutes, i've struggled a bit on the timing of frozen pies and needed to do it at a lower temp for longer to make sure it was defrosted in the middle. I've also got the TVSN segment taped  ;D

It is a hot mix pro Astarra. I just don't seem to use it very much. I always go to the thermomix.

My first attempt to tonight. Fried Feta Triangles. I had all the ingredients in the fridge. I didn't tuck in all the bits of filo so some caught a bit. They were very nice.

BZB....great job!  Their shape was because of the fan ( I don't use fan force in regular oven for cake/ cupcake baking)....but that doesn't matter, its the taste that counts  ;)

Thanks for the tip, Maddy xx

Very happy BZB. I can't decide if I should do chicken wings or what tomorrow. Maybe some chips.

I'm loving that more people have bought them.

Me too. It's such a great invention, so easy to use and healthy to boot that I want to share with everyone :D

Just like the TM. Hehehe

Frozen chips are delicious, Cookie. But not healthy :( My mum made some from scratch and they were not as good. I hope to find a method that will get us off our addiction for macca fries :)

Do you par boil them before air frying chips BZB.  I've been doing a bit of reading and this seems to be the way to go.  The chips must be very dry before frying though.

I'm also interested in pot stickers, have you made them or is there a recipe in the book?

Judy, I have yet to attempt chips. I recall the philips book saying soak first. Based on normal frying, parboiling helps a lot. Or a couple of minutes In the microwave. Can't wait for you to try out the different ideas running around in your head, Judy :)

Haven't made pot stickers before. Saw a recipe in the Asian cookbook yesterday when I was flipping through for meal ideas :)

Ooh yes I would like to make some pot stickers.
Judy the book says to soak the chips for 30 minutes, dry them and then fry them. We haven't had bought chips at home for ages. I usually make oven wedges. So hopefully they will be palatable.

If you follow the directions in the book then Cookie and aren't happy with them (kmw isn't I read) then maybe this version will work.  They used Maris Piper potatoes, cut lengthways then widthways to make small quarters.  This shape aids the shaking process. Boil for a few minutes, allow them to cool and dry completely before sprinkling with oil, cooking at 180oC for around 30 minutes.  If they're dry, shake them back into a bowl and add more oil.  Cook until crisp outside and dry and fluffy inside.

This version seemed to be the only person happy with home made chips, most of the others used frozen chips and there were no complaints with them.

Another interesting find - chestnuts 35 minutes @ 160oC described as sweet, soft and unburnt.

Roasting whole heads of garlic - 200 for 15 minutes depending on size of garlic.  Open carefully to check and cook longer if necessary.

Roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

Some great ideas. My dad has always deep fried homemade chips and he always cuts, rinses well then leaves in water for a while, rinses well again and then dries very well in a tea towel. Once he's happy they have the moisture and starch removed he them cooks them for a few minutes and allows to cool then cooks them for a final time. While it's a long process I think I'll try this method with the airfryer. Lucky our family all had very high metabolises when we were kids with all the deep fried foods we ate! We also then ate the chips from the bowl while hot smearing a little butter on each chip.  ;D

Maybe try steaming the cut potatoes in the Varoma? Instead of boiling. I find that less water is absorbed when potatoes are steamed and Varoma steamed potatoes are excellent for gnocchi because of this.
