I've added Wonder's method and time for homemade chips to the a/f temperature & times list.

Bedlam, don't forget to check that list for times & recipes.

Thanks Wonder. Do you use any gadget for cutting the potatoes into chips? I saw one guy on YouTube using a v kind of slicer.

BZB,  bought one,  useless.  Better to cut by hand.

I have been through my drawers and cupboards and have found 2 cake racks that will make 2 layers,  several dishes and cake tins that will fit.  Also one of those steamer things that open up or contract,  depending on the size of the pan that you put it in.

Chookie I've found a casserole bowl that would fit but I can't seem to lift it out from the basket. Haven't gotten the courage to try it for real - in a hot fryer

Although Philips say 20 cm for the Chocolate cake ,  I find 18 cm best as you can get your fingers and a tea towel or oven mitt down the side and lift the container out.  Have tried tongs but no go .

I love this machine. I think we have used it almost every night since I got it. So far it's been mainly chicken 1001 ways, chips and roasted veggies.

BZB, for homemade chips I've been peeling and cutting into chips then soaking in water for about half an hour and rinsing until water is clear. Once soaked I then microwaved for about 10 minutes until partially cooked, emptied water and then dryed on a tea towel before placing in the fridge for the day. When cooking I sprayed with oil and cooked at 200 for I think 10 mins or until crisp turning a few times to ensure they were all nicely browned. This method suits me because I can make them to the airfrying stage before work and then leave in the gridge drying out during the day. The type of potato does have a big impact on the final product.
This method didn't work for me, Wonder :(

I used 2 Ruby Lou potatoes. 10 mins in the microwave cooked the chips too much. Guess my microwave is stronger than yours. Some of the chips broke apart when I picked them up (with tongs) to place on the tea towel. Didn't have time to put the chips into fridge. Left it on the bench for about 20 mins.

I cooked the potatoes at 200C for 10 mins, with 3 intervals. Didn't brown evenly.

Just as I suspected, making chips is not straightforward at all. Will have to try again.

The boys were still very happy to get chips for dinner :)

I guess we are going to have to say what wattage our microwaves are if we do some of the process in it.
