That's good to hear Chookie. I think it is rather funny actually.

For the past couple of days I have been browsing the net to see what other things can be done with sourdough starter.  I had pancakes in the freezer, had just made a batch of bagels which were pretty successful, had previously tried the waffles and they were great, had  success with the English muffins and had made bread and rolls with mixed success.  There are quite a few recipes out there so I printed out a few and this morning I made the dough for a pizza base.  It looked like quite a bit of dough for 1 base (intended for the freezer) so I decided to do half as cracker snacks and make 1 small pizza base, precook it and freeze it.  I will eat the crackers but they are not as nice as normal crackers but I cooked the base too long so that's no good for anything.

This afternoon I decided to make a cake.  It took 6 hours to double in size so it was 8pm before it went into the oven during which time I was trying to attend to DH at the same time so I forgot to put the crumble topping on it.  Not to worry, I had some philly cream cheese icing in the freezer and that will do.  Oh yuk, this was terrible.  At first I thought I overcooked it (it is not a high cake) but when I tasted it, it was crisp on the outside and soft enough on the inside but didn't taste anything like a cake.

The starter is back in the fridge and I think my experimenting days might be over although I wouldn't mind giving the pizza bases another go.  Sorry Chookie, I have failed you miserably but when I think about it, if these recipes were any good, you would have already done them and posted them on the forum as you have with the said mentioned pancakes, waffles & English muffins. ;D
The recipes I did today were from this site http://www.mothering.com/community/t/252347/things-to-do-with-sourdough-starter
They were the coffee cake and the pizza crust & crackers.

My overflow bread was really tasty. Very light too. I will have to do it more often.

Judy,  good on you for giving it a go.  Unfortunately not all recipes out there are good.   I am delighted to hear of your success in making other things with your starter.   Yesterday I made a Dan Lepard recipe that was not a success.  Pigs in blankets.  Too much blanket and not enough piggie.

Refuse to throw it out and will work on ways to make it still useful....was just ladling out some bolognaise from another pan when it happened. DS came in all concerned"Was that what I think it was?"  Saw the bolognaise was ok and said, "oh, that's ok then!!"  Lol
