Greetings from the Diamond Isle

I bought my tm31 a few months ago on ebay having lusted after one for years. I'm not a great cook but I do like to cook and was a prolific jam maker but over the last few years I've struggled, particularly with chopping, whisking and erm... remembering what I'm doing LOL. I pretty much gave up with cooking because I was burning the food, and myself, nearly every time I went in the kitchen, even making a cup of tea was hazardous and sometimes a meal would be burnt 3 times before I got it to the table:( Things got so bad that at for several months all I 'cooked' was toast and pasta. So Izzy is quite literally a life saver for us - fresh soups, steamed fish etc - what a star!

I'm looking forward to trying out more adventurous things and having a laugh about the stupid things I do in the kitchen when my CPU starts to malfunction - like the time poured the milk into the marmite jar instead of my cup of tea :D

Glad to hear that tmx is renewing your faith in yourself as a cook!  Welcome to the Forum.

Excuse my ignorance, where is the Diamond Isle?  I did try and google it, but got a range of responses from the Isle of Wight, Florida and Tasmania!  I live on an island too, in Victoria, Australia.

Isle of Wight aka Vectis, it's a diamond shaped island off the south coast of England. It's part of the South Downs but a deep channel filled up with sea water and cut us off from the mainland. Has dubious reputation of being the most expensive water crossing (£/mile) in the world.

Hi Daska, welcome to the forum. My goodness you were having trouble with your cooking - problem certainly solved by buying the TMX.  Have fun and keep us informed of what you are cooking.

I checked your profile and saw you were from England but had never heard of the Diamond Isle either.

Think I can help out here, JD . . . CPU usually means central processing unit--usually refers to a computer part--but in this context, I think Daska means "brain"!

LOL Yep, sorry, my brain doesn't always process things particularly well, it's one of the reasons you'll find me editing my posts quite frequently, they look fine when I read them back and then I'll look again and realise I've written the opposite of what I mean LOL. When cooking I find I often (now) do things in the wrong order or use the wrong equipment or just plain forget what it is I'm doing. Just call me the list lady - if it ain't in the correct place on the list it don't happen.

Well I impressed me laddo this afternoon with macaroni cheese - yes, we're still on the pasta but at least the sauce was home made.  As is becoming usual I was speechless with wonder at just how easy it was to make the most amazing cheese sauce in next to no time. I used to cook it on the hob quite frequently but it was never this smooth LOL.

It's true, cheese sauce is amazingly easy, isn't . . . same with custard and lemon curd and hollandaise . . . so much hassle pre-thermomix days.  This eveing I made lemon curd and rather than having a double boiler and stirring, etc, just chucked all the ingredients in together, 8 minutes, done!  It still amazes me, too.  Well done Daska, good luck with all your experimenting!
