Problem with the blades - help!
« on: October 06, 2011, 08:35:54 pm »
I have a problem with my blades, they are turning but not cutting. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix this problem without having to send it in to be serviced?

Love this forum - thanks for responding to my cry for help!

2 -3 times?? how did you get it to work again??? Any idea why this happens. It's like the blades are turning but actually not turning fast enough to cut.

my TM is about 9 -10 month old, definitely less than 12 months, so it is still under warranty. Just annoying to have to send it in and be without it. I also don't think this should be happening after 10 months!

Sounds like they are stripped - You will have to contact your consultant and will be entitled to new set of blades as it should still be under warranty. It won't take long if you get on to it today.  :-\

Thanks Nay-Nay. Both threads were helpful, and it sounds like I have the same problem. It's annoying as today is Friday and I want to use my TM this weekend. Rather than wait 3 or 4 days until I have a functioning TM, I think I'll take a few hours off this afternoon and drive to the office in Ebikon. I had planned to buy another bowl and set of blades anyway, so this way both tasks will be accomplished.   :)

Make sure they know you are coming and are open. And make sure even if you do buy your second bowl that you get your free blades you are entitled to (under warranty) for your 'old' bowl. Safe travels.  ;)

This happened to me too within the same time frame of first owning it. Great that it was under warranty but a big eye opener to how dependent I had become! Had a dinner party on and was in a panic as to how to cook without it-luckily new blade arrived in time. Was surprised to have had a problem so early on though.

It generally happens from overloading your TM. Not necessarily at the time that it happens but at some time it has been overloaded. It is a really good thing to stick to the weights etc that are on your fridge magnet or the front of the EDC for that reason.  ;)

Thanks all, for your posts. I now have a new bowl and blades, plus the replacement blades. Back in business......... Actually, I was beginning to feel quite ill, when I thought I might not have my TM for a few days.

So to test if the "Kupplung" (connection socket was the translation to English on Leo) is kapputt: hold the blades between the knife and the gummi thing - and then try turning the grey/black part (bottom of the knife). If this just free wheels then the "Kupplung" is kapputt and beyond repair.

It was a pleasant drive along the Hallwillersee, then I had an enjoyable chat with Maya and Dani Huber, and my TM is ready for use - so not a bad morning!

Glad the day turned out well for you chdv - thanks for the information on how to tell if your blades have had it.  Another reason why having 2 bowls can be very handy.

I had to get my blades, sit in front of the computer and go through the steps before it became clear to me Robyn  :P :P

Hi Robyn

Hold the metal base under the blades in your left hand and then try to try the black knob with your right hand, if your "kupplung" is ok the blades will rotate. If it is kaputt the small black knob actually turns on itself and the blades do not turn. The black knob should not freewheel. Sorry, hope it's clearer now.

Thanks Judy, I'm sure I will be glad I invested in another bowl at some point. Right now I'm in shock at the difference in prices between CH and DE, especially after I came home and checked the German site and looked at their prices. I could have ordered one from their on-line shop for 35 - 40% less!

I'm really in thesis stress, but I've agreed to give a demo soon to a group of American ladies. If they could speak German I would have offered that one of my colleagues do it, but they don't, so I'm it. And since I wanted them to be able to take advantage of the Euro discount that TM Switzerland are offering now, we need to do the demo before the end of Oct. Just so glad my TM is now ok and that I have an extra bowl (and hang the price). I was panicking a little on Thurs nite when I thought my TM might be out of action for a couple of weeks.

It sounds as though the last thing that you need at present Cheryl is to have to explain something so simple to one a half a world away, sending you peaceful thoughts to calm the theisis stress and ..................
