TMX or coffee machine
« on: November 08, 2011, 06:04:48 am »
In eager anticipation of the arrival of my TMX I wanted to tap into the vast knowledge out there.

My question is can you make a decent latte & cappuccino in the TMX or will I still need to purchase a coffee maker?

Any thoughts & recipes?

Thanks

Shan  :)

For a good cup of coffee,   the coffee has to be ground with a burr.( I think that what it is called) and I think that the burr produces an even sized grain. The TMX does not do this.  It all depends how fussy you are with your coffee.

Shan I guess it depends on how much of a coffee connoisseur (can't spell it) you are. The TMX makes pretty good coffee. But having said that I also have a coffee machine. (I had it before the TMX)

I like a cappuccino made in the TMX - don't have them very often but they will do me any day.  DD has a coffee machine and I never make myself a coffee with that when I am down there babysitting. It does depend on how particular you are I guess.

One of our local consultants sold a machine to the owners of this business and they were suitably impressed with the coffee that the TMX made ...

that being said, I have a coffee machine because every time I want a coffee the darn TMX is in use  :o :o :o :o

I have a Nespresso machine which I love.  You can buy a Nespresso thingy that warms and foams the milk but I am sure Thermomix can do that more than adequately. But it certainly cannot brew quality coffee!  But Thermie needs a st from time to time.

I tried the TMX coffee experiment - not a success, not even remotely.  I am a coffee fanatic and am always looking for the "perfect" cup and the single-serve is my choice.  I have a Senseo for regular coffee and a "Pod-Maker" so I can roast and grind (good burr grinder very necessary) my own beans to the degree of roast I want and fill my own pods.

I've also got a mini espresso machine given to me by friends to whom I gave my big superautomatic espresso a while back.  This little Nescafe Dolce Gusto is cute and does an excellent espresso, cafe lungo, cafe latte and cappuccino.

My problem is that I simply can't stand "stale" coffee and if it stands for fifteen or twenty minutes to me it has a cardboardy taste that to me feels like scratching fingernails on a blackboard.
I have a collection of coffee makers and I have tried every kind, from the cheapest to the most expensive.  Vacuum brewed coffee was my best choice prior to the Senseo but I could only brew it in small amounts or would have to toss most of it.

I don't like TM coffee either

I love my Mokodor  coffee pod machine, have at least 2 lattes a day.

I bought it off TVSN years ago, before the nepresso's were huge.
I did own 2 manual machines before this one, and I was dissappointed by both, for the temperature, the mess, and time it took to make consecutive coffees.  That's why I like these pod/capsule systems.  Quick, less mess, and once you find the flavour you like, it tastes great.

My steaming wand did have issues, so now I just heat the milk in the Baccarrat milk frother in microwave, and the temperature is perfect, makes it as frothy as you want it, and it's much easier to clean.  I bought a  couple (allow for dropping mishaps  ;)) when on sale for $15.00

When this machine dies, I think I will replace it with a smaller Nespresso machine.  The black capsule (no. 10), is the equivalent to the arabica pods I buy now.

DH and DD gave me a Nespresso and heaps of capsules for my birthday. I really love it and have a couple a day. I was going to stick to one but that was too hard.

Thanks for all the great feed back as usual.

Have heard that the Nespresso makes a good coffe so may have to look into it.
