2 second salad
« on: November 28, 2011, 05:03:44 am »
I had just made Mayo., and usually , after scraping out bowl, add an avocado to make a dressing/dip. This time I added........

1 small carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
1 stick of celery, chopped
1/2 a green apple, core removed, chopped
2 large radishes.

Put the hardest veg in the bowl first,  so carrot, radish, celery and then apple. Set for 2 seconds, speed 5. Done.
Plenty for 2 .

Can just add a dessertspoon of Mayo if not making the Mayo first.

I've also added 1/2 avo or some olives.

You can use any combination of vegetables.

McMich - I made this salad again today. I used commercial mayo but it was still great.
DH doesn't like coleslaw but loves this. It was more of a 5 second salad, a bit finer texture.
It went really well with your favourite quiche for lunch today.

Amy - I made this tonight to serve with our homemade fish and chips, it was delicious and soooo easy. I added some capsicum and a spring onion to the salad, and served it on a bed of lettuce with homegrown cherry tomatoes and some avocado. Thanks for the recipe Chookie.

Lucyloo -  Skipped the radishes and added cucumber and a few spinach leaves. Very nice. Thanks chookie.

Cookie1 - Our radishes are prolific at the moment so I have been whizzing this up on a daily basis. So lovely.

Looks great achookwoman. Did you take the mayo out first, chop salad and then combine in a bowl or did you add the ingredients to the mayo and then chop?

Lisa,  the salad is made with the remains of Mayo,  after it has been removed from bowl.  It always seems a shame to waste what can't be scraped out.

I havent made a salad yet - at my demo the consultant made a coleslaw which was pretty mushy.  Its kind of put me off trying - might do one this weekend

Hi achookwoman  ;)

Im yet to get my machine but am hooked to the forum already... Something you added here made me stop & think for a second (which is rare ???)

You suggested to add the apple last.. So do you mean ~ Add all ingredients at the same time but "layer" the ingredients so that the denser ingredients are at the bottom (closer to the blades) & get moe blitzed..??

Ever so easy and a great way to use up the mayo in the bowl.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

5 second salad, that's for me and it's nice to have proportions for 2 people as well as using up the mayo.

Yesterday I add 1/2 avo and today some olives.  Love it.  Glad you like it also.

2 second salad, not 5 second (still becoming acquainted with my thermomix).
I will add olives when I'm taking it to the next BBQ etc, I love olives, although that's
possibly the one thing DH doesn't take a shine to. The avocado sounds good too.

Make it and take out half for DH,  then fold the olives through your 1/2.  2 seconds gives a nice chunky salad.
